HIGH SCHOOL -- 1957 vs. 2009

I'm not sure I'd go that far. After all love is given not earned and keeping a relationship afloat because how the wife behaves seems like the union is purchased with doing rather than giving love. Just a thought.

Times have changed and what social engineering took place in the 50's no longer works today. Again, experience tells me happiness in a relationship is not just a matter of conforming to socially accepted norms, but by sharing common goals and interests coupled with an ability to work through difficulties. Divorce rates in the 50's likely had more to do with the unacceptable divorce stigma than more universal happiness in marriage.

I wonder how many men think the grass is greener on the other side of the fence?

Hey BM - there's a thread just for you down in the ring - viewtopic.php?f=29&t=10638

You know, I'm sure there's a 3rd world country somewhere that appreciates values like yours.
Like it's all the woman's responsibility to make the men more happy? It doesn't take two responsible adults to make a relationship work?

OOOH- looks like I dragged in one of those "cupcakes" off the rocks!

Tell your husband I'll say a prayer for him- OK?

And they always lie, don't they? You can't stop mother nature

You have no comprehension. This isn't about stopping nature, but about how one acts and perceives life. I know I'm getting older, don't fret over doing so. I simply accept it for what it is and keep right on going. My pace may be a bit slower, but I'm more steady than when I was young. Wisdom has come with time and that allows me to make smarter decisions. Varied experiences have made me much smarter too, so if the only thing aging means is to loose some physical ability, that is the limit you chose to define aging. If you chose to let a few aches and pains rob you of youthful thought, that too is a limit you choose in defining aging. For me it is much more encompassing. I still think young with the power of experience as a guide and curiosity about the world around me akin to that of a child.

Home coming queen, headed the cheerleading team, and was the queen of the smoking area. I knew I was gonna marry her the first time I saw here in the 5th grade

Hope that she was not "used" up by the time she consented to marrying you.

1rst and only marriege for both and since you'all so interested-She went steady with me off and on through elementary, Jr high school and freshman year..Numerious break ups and we got back together after college..We also had a 6 month break up during the marriege and what she did when she wasn't with me is her business. I could'nt care less- I knew she could never be happy with anyone else- Any other guy would bore her to tears. And in 40 or so years whenever ever I said "do you wanna go here, or do this" it was always something she wanted to do. Whenever we travel we always want to do the exact same things, at the exact same times..Always- So it would be really hard for another woman to steal me away from her

Most women get the vast majority of miles on them before marriage. It happens, VL. (And, quite a few "extra" miles afterward.)
