Read this in the Flume today......

What is up with the Hartsel Fire Dept and Monica Jones?
She has been taking these guys to court for a long time now.

Also this article.......

Hutcheson says he’s ready to take $100,000 allocated for station and put it toward legal battle
Hartsel Fire Chief Jay Hutcheson is ready to take $100,000 allocated for the proposed new Badger Creek Ranch fire station in far southern Park County and pour it into a legal battle with Hartsel residents Tim and Monica Jones.

How nice of the Hartsel Fire Chief to decide he would rather fight a lawsuit than build a fire station.
What the hell is going on in this county?

What is the background story on Monica? Why is she taking them to court?

Not sure. I know she has been after them for quite some time now. Maybe someone here knows and can tell us. She has questioned their business practice for a very long time though.

Could it have been when a notice was posted on the premises restricting them from entry? I recall reading something of that nature.

Must have started before the restriction, then.

After reading the full Flume article, I'm confused. It mentioned a resident who records all the meetings, and she has a full 33.31 minute recording. But there is no mention of what is said in her recording.

I wonder if the money for the building is in an account that he CAN take it for legal battles. I wouldn't think that a capital building fund could be accessed for legal fees. Funny, too, that the fire house he's scratching is the one he promised pre-board election to build, and it's the votes from that area that kept him in office. Wonder what all those folks think now?

I don't think she can record an executive session, I think she timed it.

The Hartsel ire dept is one of the best ongoing soap operas in Park County. The Flume has been keeping an account of the concerns of citizens. If you go to back issues you can learn more about how the board chooses to operate.

In my opinion the board doesn't necessarily think any sunshine laws or any laws apply to them and do whatever they choose. Monica and others have been taking them to task.

I hope Monica takes them to court. This board is unprofessional. If they can't handle the citizens concerns and complaints then they shouldn't be on the board. But seriously they don't give a crap. Time for them to be exposed and dumped.

The most recent is a ruling by the Judge that they have to turn over the tapes as they are not executive sessions as the board contends. But ooopsy, being the board that they are, somehow portions of the meetings more than likely got deleted. What a pathetic sick board.

This is a quote from The Flume article...

Hartsel-area resident Connie Gray, who monitors and records each Hartsel Fire meeting and was at the January meeting, said that her recording of the time of the executive session is 33.31 minutes, which confirms that there are indeed 31 missing minutes.

I suppose "records" could mean taking notes, but that wouldn't be a good word for it. Sounds to me like she does her own audio recording, but if so, why no mention of what's on it in the article?
