Javascript is needed for alot of web pages to function, including videos and flash.

You can do this thru control panel, java, update on XP
I must have turned mine off sometime ago, I never get those updates.

In Windows explorer Right click on the "Local Disk (C)" and click 'format'. Follow the instructions and reformat your hard drive. That will return it to a pre-Java state - eliminating all of those pesky Java files..
