Well, I guess they need something to be outraged about, and this is as good as any... A shame to go through life always outraged about something...particularly when it revolves around perceptions of not being allowed to impose one's religiosity on someone else, whether they want it or not.
Something the Dog Said wrote: This has been reported on numerous sites, but the wording is identical to the Liberty Institute press release. I will be interested when the facts come forward whether it actually occurred per the release, or if some overly zealous bureaucrat has overstepped.
The one from the wnd site is different. It is from the American Legion California. I am trying to get some real facts on it now through the VFW.

LJ I disagree with you on this one. The family should be allowed to decide what they want for their Veterans funeral. Not the government. That is my point on this.
What I still find asinine, is those who get all torqued-out if someone wishes them "Happy Holidays"... If I can get over "Merry Christmas", why can't they get over "Happy Holidays"? (Oh, I forgot ... With the righties, it's "My way or the highway...")
Dang it, I agree, except for the last part...
(Oh, I forgot ... With the righties, it's "My way or the highway...")
Seems to me that fits both sides equally well.

I remember, not too long ago, the Air Force banned using the Folds citation and demonstration during retirement ceremonies...because of the reference to "God". Someone, somewhere didn't like that reference and determined it was mixing government and religion.
From what I've seen, the folds citation and demonstration have been allowed back.
Personally, I think it is ridiculous and an infringement on personal rights and wishes to ban the use of anything remotely resembling religious phrases or acts during any personal ceremony, to include funerals.
I don't see how anyone can be offended by a heartfelt expression of condolence by a dedicated volunteer. It strikes my as the actions of an officious administrator.
