Sorry, Google is too liberal for me to support them anymore.

So what makes you want to join them over rather than just sticking with Facebook?

USA Today reported last year that 98% of contributions made in 2004 by Google employees to political parties went to Democrats, including a $25,000 donation by Google CEO Eric Schmidt.

How does Google treat leftist sites? Not with impartiality, that's for sure. MoveOn has been the recipient of more than $1 million from Google. To add to this, Al Gore, who looks to be making a stealth campaign for the presidency in 2008, is a senior advisor for Google. Democratic political analyst Susan Estrich has stated that Gore was rewarded with a nice chunk of Google shares for his "advice."

I know this is 2004 but their also have been so many stories of religious bias on typed in search words. Negative links use to come up when you type in Christianity or Jesus Christ where as all positive when you typed in Islam. this is mentioned in the link too. But that was a big story for a while.

One less thing to integrate. Besides Mark Zuckerberg has his head so far up Obama's ass every time he comes over to visit Facebook.

Software shops are inherently more liberal than conservative, not much that can be done about that except let it change organically. With that said, about 90% of my co-workers who voted for Obama last time are looking to vote Republican this time, I doubt you will see the Democrats getting the type of money they received in 2004. Google, like any large company will support whoever they believe will win the next election. Do not think they are above switching sides if it suits them, they need friends in Washington that will look out for their interests. Microsoft used to never lobby hard in Washington until it was too late and they had antitrust suits to deal with. Microsoft was never the same afterwards.

Full disclosure: I do work on Google App Engine and see their cloud platform as a major money maker for myself with little investment other than my time and effort.

Appreciate the disclosure as I saw you post this on FB too. I will look at it. But do you really think it can come close to catching the 500 million users of FB? Especially after they just teamed up with Skype?

Easily, they already have 10 million users and sharing a billion items a day. In two weeks they have 1.2% of Facebook's total audience. At that rate they can catch up in less than two years and less than a year if the growth is exponential. Google's Hangouts allows up to 10 users in a video chat for free. You have to pay for that with Skype. Also, Newt Gingrich used this feature quite recently for a group meeting. You can watch it on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RSmZ7hYY24U
