"Over the past couple of weeks, regrettably, some people found our campaign about milk and PMS to be outrageous and misguided — and we apologize to those we offended," the California Milk Processor Board says on its website. "Others thought it funny and educational. It has opened up a topic that affects women, of course, but also relationships."

*The Milk Processor Board is overseen by the state *Department of Food and Agriculture and is funded by contributions from dairy processors in California, the nation's top milk provider.

*Now shouldn't THEY KNOW BETTER?

Oh bulls?!t. I love how men pretend that it's fun being groped at work, having men run their sweaty hands over your body by "accident" rubbing their junk up against you as they "brush" by and expecting you to like it. It's disappointing that not one man is willing to take a position against this behavior. I guess we haven't come a long way after all. I can say that after growing up in a sheltered Christian household the way I was treated by my male bosses and co-workers was traumatizing to a young woman. I wondered what kind of men would treat a girl that way because no men in my experience would have. Now I know. Here you all are.

Oh please! I am a meek little mouse at work who would never dream of doing those things, especially in this enviroment today where people sue over anything.

chickaree wrote: You obviously didn't comprehend the point. Never mind. Go on mocking and belittling others and calling it humor.

Nor have you addressed mine chickaree. If you are not Irish or Catholic and still found humor in the jokes, should you be chastised for finding humor in the stereotypes they contain? If not, then why would a joke containing similar stereotypes regarding other ethnic groups be subjected to chastisement and not these?

So Printsmith, what humorous stereotype did Martin Ent, TPP, SS106, jfcai, and evidently yourself find in the "good joke" about the First Lady posing nude in the National Geographic?

Sorry Dog, I haven't seen the joke. I've been looking for it in the forum, but haven't located it yet. I'm gathering, due to the knee jerk default of "racism" being alleged, that it had something to do with topless black females appearing in NatGeo during a more innocent era of this nation's history, but I will admit I don't have the context.

The point that I was making was that humor is always at the expense of someone else. Even when a comedian is making themselves the target of the joke, the humor that results is felt by others at the expense of the comedian. The jokes I contributed have the stereotypes of the Irish as drunks and thieves as the central component of the joke. If someone who is neither Irish nor Catholic finds humor in them, why is that any different from a joke that stereotypes blacks, or Jews, or dumb blondes for that matter? Are some stereotypes allowed to be humorous and others excluded in your world? If so, on what basis? Are they not all stereotypes? Polish jokes, white Russian jokes. Mexican jokes, black jokes - the central component of all of them is the stereotype associated with each group. Either all are repulsive or none should be considered as such. Equal treatment, remember?

Well, it's always better to argue, vociferously, the "rightie-side" without having the context... Ready--Fire--Aim

I'm sorry Printsmith. I thought I had made myself clear on several points, but since you haven't read the joke I guess that explains it. The joke mocks specific, actual people. Not a stereotypical fictional one. If you took the womens names out and substituted their races all would become clear. The joke is posted in the ring. Perhaps you could address this more lucidly after you read the joke. The sexual harrassment issue is more generic and does not neccessarily pertain to the joke.
