I've been looking for it in the forum, but haven't located it yet. I'm gathering, due to the knee jerk default of "racism" being alleged, that it had something to do with topless black females appearing in NatGeo during a more innocent era of this nation's history, but I will admit I don't have the context.
The point that I was making was that humor is always at the expense of someone else. Even when a comedian is making themselves the target of the joke, the humor that results is felt by others at the expense of the comedian. The jokes I contributed have the stereotypes of the Irish as drunks and thieves as the central component of the joke. If someone who is neither Irish nor Catholic finds humor in them, why is that any different from a joke that stereotypes blacks, or Jews, or dumb blondes for that matter? Are some stereotypes allowed to be humorous and others excluded in your world? If so, on what basis? Are they not all stereotypes? Polish jokes, white Russian jokes. Mexican jokes, black jokes - the central component of all of them is the stereotype associated with each group. Either all are repulsive or none should be considered as such. Equal treatment, remember?
