You are right! Thats why for the first time I am going to register. It is the only way in this environment to have your voice heard.SS109 wrote: Want your vote to count? Vote in a primary, many fewer people participate and if we get the fiscal conservatives who can win in November it is a good thing versus the social conservatives that will lose like Buck and Maes.

The system is broken and I am going to play the game! It's all about the primaries now, I suggest that you repubs moderate the dems. Do you see a better way? I am now a proud Republican! Yes PS a provocateur! my new middle namePrintSmith wrote: Why not register as a Democrat since that party is closer to your political leanings jmc? Could it be that you, and other Democrats, plan on sabotaging the primaries this year in an attempt to prevent a challenger that Republicans would otherwise choose as representative of their outlook on the proper role of the wannabe national government in the lives of the citizens of the states?
Republicans are not looking for a Democrat in Republican clothing to represent them, that is part of how the mess got so big to begin with. If you are going to affiliate yourself with the Republican party it should be because your principles of government and that of the Republican Party are more similar than your principles and those of the party of Democrats. To be an agent provocateur within the party with which you most disagree in an attempt to homogenize the representation is to act in a manner that thwarts rather than advances the most basic principles of self government.
It's OK with me if you have a different view of what the federal government should be jmc, but have the courage of your convictions to conduct the battle of ideas without resorting to infiltrating the opposition and sabotaging the debate.

I have been unaffiliated all my life , until today.towermonkey wrote: jmc seems to be a bailey resident. Registering as a democrat would leave him in the same place - not able to vote in the local elections as they take place at the primary level. Almost nobody runs as a dem up here. I'm registered R just to be able to vote against Fred every couple of years...
