So since you are saying this is all partisan, please explain to me why the Republicans are the only ones who have passed a few bills? One went past the election to 2013 like Obama wanted and he said he would veto it without even seeing it. And Reid refused to bring a bill passed by the house to the floor of the Senate even for a vote. And on this last one it isn't even passed yet and Obama said he would veto it and Reid said it is DOA when it gets to the Senate. When asked where the Democrat controlled Senate plan is, there isn't one! They have enough votes to pass something and in 820 days they haven't passed any budget and even the last few months when they kept saying the deadline is coming, they have YET to pass one bill on it!
What do they want the Republicans to compromise on? They haven't SEEN anything! How it works is each house passes a bill and then the other house can make changes and vote on it and then send it back to the first house to see if they will accept it. The Republicans did that. The Democrats refuse to. The House has passed bills, and the VERY partisan Senate refuses to look at them or vote on them or add anything to them that they want. They keep trying to make the Republicans look bad rather than pass ANYTHING!! SO now the House can vote on the Senate bill and add to that and send it back to them. The Problem?????? THERE IS NO SENATE BILL!! And they still keep trying to blame the Republicans! Are you kidding me?? The Dems just want to say NO to everything and not give any bills and say the Republicans aren't trying!

Two things. I looked back and can't find any filibusters when the Dems controlled. And second, the Republicans have passed 2 bills and Reid won't even bring them to a vote. They are the party of no. SO the R's are trying to compromise MORE and now are losing some Republican votes. But they have passed bills. All the Dems say, just like you just said, raise the debt ceiling and taxes NOW, and we can figure out spending cuts later. Later never comes. And they will need another $2-3 trillion in a 2013. It has to stop NOW!! The D's HAVE to give in on spending!
Come on, you're smarter than that. The senate doesn't do actual filibusters anymore.......no one wants to stand there and talk for hours/days........they threaten to do one, and deals get made, and bills change until they get 60 votes.
The Republicans have passed one bill.....the second was to be tonight, but they couldn't get their act together. And why bother....just like the Republicans said they wouldn't pass Reid's bill.....the Senate has said they won't pass Boehner's bill. But in your mind only the Dems said no.......nice spin Viking. And you are misrepresenting the Dems bill....there are no new taxes in it. Please educate yourself on what is going on. There should be taxes in it if we are really serious about cutting our deficit in the future....but for now that is off the table. The original Dem bill reduced the deficit by 4 trillion over 10 years, R's said NO.....the Rep's bill had 2.5 trillion in reduction, D's said no, the Dem's countered with 2.7 trillion, R's said NO.....they prefer the 800+ billion......really, who here looks serious about tackling both the spending problem and the deficit reduction? Democrats!
They had Ryans bill, and Cut, Cap and Balance passed with Pelosi and Reid behind it but after Obama said no, they refused to vote on it. It is still out there. If the Dems are serious about this then go vote on it! And you show me where the Republicans said they won't pass a bill that Reid has passed? He hasn't passed anything yet! SO you are saying, the Dems in the Senate are a bunch of woosies? (sp) Since they heard someone might say no, they figure that they just as well not try? Then VOTE THEM OUT!! Put people in who will vote on things! And please show me that bill where the D's were going to cut $4 trillion over 10 years and what the cuts were and to who and when and how much? And we already proved, if you would educate YOURSELF that the $2.7 was smoke and mirrors. $1.6 doesn't even exist and wouldn't anyway.
This should never have even been an issue, what the Dem's and the president wanted was a simple bill to raise the debt limit......this has nothing to do with spending or the deficit....it is simply allowing the government to pay the bills on things it has already agreed to.....we cannot make those things go away, we can't cut spending in the past.....these are US obligations that HAVE to be paid.
It is the Republicans who started putting conditions on what has always been almost a formality, because the US does not default on it's obligations. The fact that the Republicans would use the reputation of the United States in a high stakes game of chicken is deplorable. Lets just raise the lim it....as everyone, even the Republicans agree we must.....then fight about future buidgets and spending and whatever. Letting a bunch of tea party prima donnas with a political agenda ruin the reputation of this nation is just so wrong. I hope they all get punished for this folly in 2012.
The Senate is smart enough to not waste everyone's time with bills they know will never pass the house......deals are made in committee, or by the leaders, then hashed out on the floor of the house and senate when the deal is n early done. But not this year.....no the Republicans want to make a spectacle of this.....they go off half cocked, wasting everyone's time, on bills they know will never pass....What a bunch of idiots.....really, they will bring this country down, and the conservatives here are cheering them on.

ARE YOU KIDDING?? Raising the debt has nothing to do with spending? That explains a lot. And raising now and then never talking about it or fighting about it is all that happens until the NEXT time they need to raise it which in in Jan of 2013. When the NEXT President is in office. THAT is what this is all about with Obama. He wants to kick the can down the road to the next President. And the Cut, Cap and Balance gave the debt ceiling raise and went to 2013. And Obama said NO!. HE is the one playing games with our Reputation!
