You don't have to file at all if you make less than 18k.

archer wrote: Once again the right wants to do all this deficit cutting on the backs of the middle clas.....well those backs will break, and soon . God forbid we should ask the upper class and the precious corporations to pull their own weight and sacrifice for this country that has given them so much. Nope, the right ain't going to do it......let the middle class support the wealthy and the corporations.

Sheesh Viking, the worker bees in this country can only do so much, you are bleeding the heart of this nation dry and still you want more from them.

That's a nice populist way of putting things, isn't it. The right wants to cut the DC deficit spending by removing from the DC government the authority to oversee areas that it was never intended to oversee.

And you just have to love the regressive characterization of the fruits of one's labor as a gift from the rest of us, don't you? While that may indeed be true for unionized public sector workers, I don't think it is an accurate descriptor for the entrepreneurs that create new products and services, the supply of which creates demand for their products, which creates employment opportunities. Personally I think people like Bill Gates give more to the country than the country has ever given to them.

For every Bill Gates, there are a thousand sleazebags like the Koch Brothers.

Spin it however you want PS......it is a priviledge to live in this country....and the standard of living and quality of life we enjoy is not free.....we do have to pay for "the greater good", otherwise we would not have a military to protect us, or a national highway system to get us from place to place, or checks and balances on the producers and processors of our food and medicine, and on and on. Arguing that the middle class should shoulder that responsibility while giving breaks to the wealthy and corporations is very short sighted. Take away the customers because they no longer have a disposable income hurts the very corps you are working so hard to protect. We are seeing that trend now....fewer and fewer people have the money to spend which keeps our economy going. The more you take from them, the less services you provide, the less they spend. This is especially true for seniors, take away the safety net of SS and medicare and their disposable income drops considerably.....for many to zero.

Seniors spend a lot of money in our economy......and our economy is consumer driven. It's about time the conservatives had an economics lesson and learned that they are going after the very core of this nation when they seek to take away income from those who actually spend the money in order to protect the very wealthy who have a history of spending a smaller percentage of their income than the middle class. Dollar for dollar we do best when the money is in the hands of the middle class than when that same amount of money sits in the bank accts of the wealthy.

Consumers also create jobs, their buying power creates the demand for both goods and services.......take that away and people start getting laid off and small businesses go belly up.

I'm sure some here will say it's best to cut taxes across the board, help the middle class, help the wealthy, I think we have cut as much as we can and still function.....Bush's tax cuts were like throwing a bone to the middle class and the steak to the wealthy.....they got best of that deal. It's time to even stuff out.....and tax reform should be the TOP priority of congress.

Tell me LJ, how many people do you employ and how does that compare with the number of people employed by the Koch brothers? Get rid of their business and their employees and not only will the left have lost a target for their bigotry, there would be thousands more standing in the unemployment lines. Even the Koch brothers give more to the country than the country gives to them. They already pay far more than their fair share given that in addition to the income taxes they and their companies pay, they match the privilege taxes levied upon each and every one of those workers as well as that levied upon themselves. In addition to income and privilege taxes, they also pay capital gains taxes. Not to mention the contributions to the economy they make in other areas such as housing, food, transportation, insurance........which contribute to other companies employing other workers, which would also disappear if they disappeared. The rich give far more to the country than the country gives to them.

It never fails, when it gets down to arguing the merits of government spending the regressives resort to arguments in favor of the spending the right wishes to keep. Ever notice that archer?
