The only thing the Koch Brothers pay more than their fair share to is all of the undercover and behind the scenes fascist, right-wing hit groups that they fund under the table through hundreds of shell corporations.

I think if every single person out there worth $10 million or more got freaking sucked up by alien ships tomorrow we wouldn't miss 'em a bit. A hundred years from now we'd have to beg the aliens to come back to get the new Robber Barons, but at least we'd have fifty or sixty years before the crooks grabbed everything again.

As long as they left their money behind that might be true, but if their money went with them when they were sucked up by those aliens, you'd miss them. The middle class would miss them because there would be no money to cover their paychecks and the government would most certainly miss them since they account for over 40% of every dollar of income tax revenue and half of all the money contributed to SS and Medicare. Talk about a willingness to kill the goose that lays the golden DC charity egg............

When did the wealthy "individuals" start using their own wealth to pay salaries other than those of their household help?

Of course, the tax increases that are being proposed amount to:

$3.00 per $1000, for every $1,000 OVER $250,000....

The horror!!! I wonder how many jobs won't be created with that HUGE debt-load...?

Now THAT's hilarious! Weren't you just haranguing us with the evils of fiat currency?

Even if they took their bankbooks with them, PS, it's the assets they control that are of interest to society at large, not their money. And the problem is, they control far too many of them at this point in history. We would all be a lot better off without the super-wealthy, as this country has only prospered when there hasn't been such wealth inequality. Without a prosperous consumer class, there won't even be a prosperous upper class for long.

By the way, where on earth did you come up with the ridiculous notion that people with over $10,000,000 in assets contribute "over half" of the money contributed to SS and medicare? Few of them pay ANYTHING into those systems and most of them pay far less in personal taxes than you and I do as a percentage of their incomes.

Particularly, when the max income subject to tax is $106,800...?

Hey, PS...Have you hit your $106,800 max limit yet this year??? Hmmmmm?

Talk about your bald faced liars. First off, the increase would be $3 for every $100 dollars, not $1000 since it is a 3% tax hike, not a 0.3% tax hike being proposed. Secondly, that $3 is in addition to the other dollars that they would pay in taxes, not in place of those other dollars. I can promise you that Bill Gates, George Soros and the Koch brothers would all gladly pay only $0.03 in taxes on every dollar they earned above $250K - that's a lower rate than they pay on capital gains...........

Yep I think you're right... I think I misheard the quote... If someone is making more than $250K, I would still be so worried about them, though...

The assets they control are part of what makes them worth more than $10 million dollars AV. Those would disappear along with them when the aliens sucked them off of the planet. All the buildings, all the machinery, all their money......gone in an instant when the aliens collected them. Now, granted we might be able to farm to a limited degree without the tractors and combines that added to their bank accounts make them worth more than $10 million, but I can promise you we couldn't feed all the folks left behind using horses and plows until everyone else came up with enough money to purchase the steel, build the tooling and hire the workers to build a new tractor and a new combine.
