Pundits who bought into the “hostage crisis” analogy (as Fareed Zakaria did) should arrive at the logical conclusion. The “good cop, bad cop” game clearly benefited the Republicans. By allowing themselves to be cast as the bad cop, Tea Party freshmen let John Boehner play good cop (you know, the sympathetic guy who really wants to help you get out of this mess — if only you cooperate).
Over time, of course, this trick might be harder for the GOP to pull off. Some of the freshmen elected in 2010 will eventually become “civilized.” They will become more fun at cocktail parties, but they will lapse into the role of “good cop.”
And so, my advice to Tea Party freshmen is simple: For as long as you can get away with it — let the other side think you’re crazy.
The problem is that most people think the Tea Party is running the Republican Party. It's not a "good cop bad cop" thing, it's a "Republicans can't control the brats" thing.
No, it's a both parties suck ass thing, and weak movements like the green party had zero effect in changing the the status quo but the Tea Party movement had a huge effect whether you like it or not. Maybe if there were more than just 20% of the population that were left wing nutjobs, you would be able to have a bigger voice.
The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.
I agree that the Tea Party did have a huge effect. Unfortunately, it is now holding the Republican Party hostage and Boehner can't keep them under control.
They are forcing change...if you think our current two party system is working well, then you probably don't pay much attention to how things are done in Washington (or you're a politician)
