I have been wondering the very same thing......why would the Republicans want to move farther to the right when they should know they will lose the independents and don't have a chance to pick up Democratic votes like Reagan did. I think there are a lot of Democrats and Independents who are looking for a candidate they can vote for other than Obama. But when the choices are perceived as being right wing extremists they will hold their nose and vote again for Obama. He is the only moderate in the group. In spite of the fact that the tea party and many Republicans try to paint Obama as a liberal extremist, he has proven himself to be pretty middle of the road.. Romney seems to be the only Republican who can appeal to more liberal voters, but I don't think he will get the nomination because he is seen by the tea party as a moderate.lionshead2010 wrote: We are going to run either Bachmann or Perry and we are going to hand the presidency back to probably the worst president in US history. Our failure to run someone more middle of the road is the same thing as voting for the re-election of President Obama. We will all be scratching our collective heads in late 2012 wondering HOW IN THE HELL that guy got re-elected. I can already see the writing on the wall.
In our head long run to secure our ideological needs we will forget the needs of our Nation and put the worst possible option back in charge. We can feel good about voting for our guy while we watch the wrong guy stay in office. I can't believe it but it's clear as day to me.

When compromise is a dirty word, Bachmann said today that she will not compromise, then nothing gets done.

Obama has painted himself as "anti-American Socialist Anti-Christ.
Compromising with the devil himself is not acceptable - you still end up in hell.
