FEMA is temporarily suspending payments because of Irene

With less than $1 billion currently available for federal disaster assistance, the Federal Emergency Management Agency said Sunday it will temporarily suspend payments to rebuild roads, schools and other structures destroyed during spring tornadoes in Joplin, Mo. and southern states in order to pay for damage caused by Hurricane Irene.

I also heard that some of the major cuts is coming to the NOAA.

So wait a minute. Help me with this concept.

Is this article suggesting that if I'm living on a tight budget (me and most Americans) and suddenly the transmission goes out in my car costing me several thousands of dollars to repair....I can't just keep spending on the pre-disaster rate? I have to reduced spending somewhere else in my family budget to defray the unexpected costs? Why should I have to cut ANYTHING?

Oh, I see. So you are telling me that money doesn't does grow on magic trees and I can't just "print" more money to offset the unexpected cost. So where DOES the extra money come from? If there is no magic money machine, then where will the money come from?

Why can't I just call the banks I owe the money to and ask them to cut us some slack? I'll just tell them we are really nice people and ALL the money is being spent on really important stuff and we need every penny. Certainly the bankers will understand, show empathy and look the other way for a month or two. Ya right.

Hey give me a break. The Democrats in Congress haven't mastered this concept and they are EXTREMELY intelligent. So is the President. Just ask them.

This is a remarkable concept. I wonder if Congress has ever talked about this idea?

I can't believe we are still cutting checks for those tornados.

Why? Did you really believe that all the damage had been taken care of?

Nope, but gee - do Americans really have to cover losses of weather? We're going to go broke chasing storms to pay for. The federal government is cutting checks for a Cat 1 hurricane ....probably at record levels.....we can't assume the liability of mother nature - she will break Rome.
