It's been pretty obvious that taking a hatchet to SS, medicare and medicaid.....revising the tax code to benefit the wealthy and corporations, and balancing the budget on the backs of the middle class and poor are their main objectives. They scare me, pure and simple.....not the Republicans, the real Republicans are a more moderate bunch....but the Tea Party Republicans seem to want to destroy America in order to "fix" it, not build a better America. Their scorched earth approach could be devastating to our economy and to it's citizens. That was pretty evident when they threatened to allow America to go into default rather than compromise with Democrats.....their way, however misguided, or the highway. A Democrat as president is all we may have between the Tea Party and total ruination.

You must get your opinions of the "Tea Party ideals" from a democrat source. There is no scorched earth in any tea party people I know.

Regarding compromise....if your house is burning, do you compromise by putting out only the fire in one room? We don't have any more $$. If my family was deeply in debt, would we compromise by only adding one more credit card? Do you compromise with your spouse, who is sleeping around, to only sleep with a few additional people?

The real republicans are the conservatives. Those of us that realize we must change the way we do things. We must spend less. Period. Just increasing taxes will do nothing. You could confiscate every dollar the "rich" make, and you still have a massive deficit. The tea party is just every day people, not establishment politicians. They are just like us, who see where we are headed. They just want govt. out of the way so we can live our lives. They aren't "extreme" at all. They just want us to live within our means.

Too bad future generations aren't here to see all the great things we are spending their $$ on!!

:like: :yeahthat:

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

First......"scorched earth" is my own opinion....not someone elses.....it's what I have seen from the way Tea Partiers try to put their own agenda ahead of what is good for the country.....they don't even consider the consequences of their actions, they only seem interested in getting their way. This kind of statement:

You must get your opinions of the "Tea Party ideals" from a democrat source.

does nothing to further the discussion and I resent the implication. I make up my own mind thank you very much.

As for compromise........your analogy makes no sense.....a better one might be an argument between two people whose house is burning, do you stay and fight the fire risking injury, or evacuate and let the fire department handle it. A compromise might be to fight the fire from a safe distance with a hose, then let the fire dept do it when they get there. Both want to save their home, but they have different ideas of how much risk is acceptable.

Why do all the conservatives here claim that liberals want to solve our problems with tax increases only? I have not seen a single liberal make that claim.....ever....not here, not in congress, not anywhere. I don't want to "just increase taxes" so why would you claim I do? I want a balanced approach with serious spending cuts, and serious increases in revenue. I absolutely want the tax code revised to be simpler and more equitable with many loopholes removed......and I certainly believe that some changes have to be made to how our entitlement programs are funded and administered.
