You didn't offend me in the least. Frankly 'red tie cult' is somewhat vauge, and I'm not even sure what pigeon hole you're trying to hang that tag on.

I was just pointing out the rule violation :)

So why are you wasting time in a political forum? Seems a bit silly does it not?

So basically you are proposed a tightly moderated discussion thread based on the subjective opinions of a single moderator (judge). Sounds familiar.

I would say it's more like a formal debate between two posters. I honestly don't see why the idea evokes so much hostility. Is reasoned discussion so threatening?

I thought the free for all was what everyone came here for. There is complaining about other boards that have moderation to keep everyone playing like an adult and this was the board that let people go off without anything but extra light moderation. There is even a thread in The Ring about the PC moderators. The sturm and drang was what people said they loved about this place. Especially the PC banned clan.

True freedom is not a beautiful as the images of Bald Eagles and Uncle Sam portray it. It almost always evolves into chaos as everyone begins to clash over their beliefs and morals.

One thread for reasoned discussion is too much? The brawlers have to ruin everything for everyone else? Really?

Another view of some of the other forums I'm a member of has revealed a small insight as to why they function in a civil manner and the answer can be summed up in one simple word:

RESPECT

Ironic that this and PC seem to have a lack of it.... one could almost assume that the word has no meaning to the Bailey/Conifer (and surroundings) communities but we know better.

It would however seem that the other boards I speak of have this because they're all joined by a common element/interest of two wheels. And oddly enough when I view each post as a 'conversation' people seem to speak as if they would face to face in many cases. Granted, even I type more on message boards than I perhaps say in person because there is no body language or anything to assist in communications.

I just find it very interesting that people are willing to sling insults and often wonder how many of them would still do this face to face? Speaking personally, I didn't earn the nick of "Badger" by being cute and fuzzy.... With that said, holding a certain respect for oneself and another's views is something that should be done either face to face or on a message board.

Why is does having an adult and respectful conversation equate to tight moderation? Is it really that hard to just make your points occasionally without being insulting? I just don't understand why it would be so bad to just have an occasional thread that wasn't polluted with hate. All I was attempting to do is see who is capable of speaking WITHOUT moderation. I don't think it's possible for many here to be respectful to those they disagree with. I'm willing to prove that I CAN and welcome others who want to discuss a topic in a more adult way. Nobody would be force to participate or even give the thread a glance.
