School spending has gone through the roof and test scores are flat.

While most every other service in life has gotten faster, better, and cheaper, one of the most important things we buy -- education -- has remained completely stagnant, unchanged since we started measuring it in 1970.

Why no improvement?

Because K-12 education is a government monopoly and monopolies don't improve.

You might find the above article interesting. I find the current Republican war on education baffling personally. It's a complex issue that has more to do with societal issues than with the schools themselves.

Thanks for bringing the "republican war on education" to my attention. The answer is obvious. :faint:

What's your point? That people other than I have noticed thos and are dismayed by it? The
Republican party used to be a bastion of intellectual giants.

We all noticed..They are in a war on themselves.

Give all our money to defense contractors for crap we don't need, give it to other countries, give it to banks, give it to anybody, but don't you dare give it to us or invest it back into this country.

Ya can't possibly get any stupider than that

I think more people need to watch that program...I did and saw nothing that was not factual. Maybe someone who had an open mind enough to watch it could point out the falsehoods for me.

It amazes me that we can't touch the public school monopoly, especially when it comes to making it more competetive and being able to find the best teachers and flush the worst. When it becomes more important to keep a bad to mediocre teacher employed than it is to get that teacher's students off to the best start possible, we really have no chance of catching up to the rest of the world.

I'd like to start a thread on this...... where we disect the video and see who wants to show why the program is wrong and our public school sytem is working well enough to justify the heavy taxes we pay. I wouldn't expect a rational conversation but I can still dream.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

There you go again, putting your stupid bs out there without knowing what the hell you are talking about. I did notice though that you did not include unions. So get your sh** straight.

It does not work, and like most unions, they refuse to get rid of those the do not perform or are low performers. That would mean loss of income for the union higher ups.

The government gives money to unions? I was president and worked for a number of Labor Unions for over 25 years and we never got on red cent from government..Banks do, Oil companies do, Walmart does, GE...etc..etc

But not labor unions
