Looks like the MMJ folks could be subjected to federal prosecution for possessing firearms and ammunition in violation of 18 USC 922(g)(3) and that the required federal background check to purchase a firearm will now disqualify anyone who holds a MMJ card from being able to buy a gun according to the latest letter from the BATFE and Eric Holder's DoJ. I'm thinking the federal interference in access to their "medicine" and their rights might just make for a whole new generation of people more interested in States' Rights than allowing the consolidation of power by the general government to continue.
Unintended consequences: Will just drive more chronic ill people to buy their drugs on the street.
And I can understand it on buying guns, one of the questions on the 4473 asks if you are a habitual drug user or addict, but I haven't seen any restrictions on ammo sales other than age and domestic violence.

The federal law prohibits someone who is an "unlawful user......of a controlled substance" from shipping, transporting, receiving or possessing firearms or ammunition. Anyone who uses marijuana, even for "medicinal" purposes, falls into the unlawful user category at the federal level. You can be certain that your local gun shop isn't going to be selling you a gun if you have a MMJ card - the loss of the business isn't worth the loss of their freedom. You can also be certain that the Colorado list of those who have obtained a MMJ card is now also part of the state and national databases that are examined to determine whether or not you pass the background check and are able to purchase a firearm from a FFL licensed dealer. Remember, your status as a MMJ cardholder is not protected by the federal HIPPA laws either.....
Stoners who will now fail the background check if they want to purchase a firearm. One wonders which they deem more important - their right to keep and bear arms, or their "medicine"?
I got a card when I was diagnosed with cancer. So I guess since I'm now a cancer patient and benefit from MMJ, I'm now not responsible enough to own my guns anymore.
The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

Be glad you don't live in a anti-gun state like Illinois who would seize the weapons and ammo you own right now.

Give them to your wife - as a gift for your anniversary - along with the ammunition for them. And for Pete's sake, though I'm not sure why it should be done for his sake, don't try to buy any more guns while you are taking your medicine CB. You are one of cases that actually fit the reason the law was enacted to begin with, and I hope it is helping you deal with the side effects of the treatment and the pain caused by your condition, but I don't want you to give Eric Holder's group of folks a reason to pay you a visit.
