Germany
9th July 2022

Germany’s two houses of parliament have passed emergency legislation to reactivate mothballed coal-fired power plants in order to support electricity generation amid fears of gas shortages as Russia curbs capacity. The move has been described as “painful but necessary” by the government’s environmentalist economics minister, Robert Habeck. It has the backing of leading Greens in the coalition government, who argue it is needed as a short-term crisis management tool.

Hypocrisy knows no bounds. As I pointed out in another thread the EU is buying all available LNG to the detriment of developing countries that cannot afford the price the EU is willing to pay. LNG carriers are being turned around at sea and instead of going to the third world are going to the EU.
This is the same EU that has forced solar and wind power on these countries as well as preventing them from building coal-fired generators of energy.

Cities across Germany are planning to use sports arenas and exhibition halls as ‘warm up spaces’ this winter to help freezing citizens who are unable to afford skyrocketing energy costs.

Wonder what the costs in terms of carbon footprint dies it cost to heat a sports arena or exhibition hall aside from the actual monetary cost.
It has been written that an Exhibition Hall filled with Germany burghers who have not bathed for a week or more and have intestines filled with sauerkraut and schnitzel, the horrow of the smell.

Burn the methane generated in those enclosed spaces?

I do wonder if energy costs keep rising, will we start to see smaller houses being built, and much more insulation to keep them hot/cold depending on the season.

Where was the “forward thinking”? Homeagain?

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.
