Lets Make all of the Unemployed US Gubment Employees...

[sarcasim]What a GREAT IDEA![/sarcasim]

Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. has offered his own $804 billion jobs plan that calls on the federal government to hire the nation’s 15 million unemployed Americans for jobs paying roughly $40,000 each, and bail out all the states and cities facing budget crises.

In an interview with the Daily Caller on Wednesday, the Illinois Democrat applauded President Obama for directing his staff to greenlight job-creating initiatives without congressional approval after his $447 billion jobs bill was defeated in the Senate this week.

“Now we’re making some progress,” Jackson said, comparing the legislative gridlock in Congress to the states that seceded from the union during the Civil War.

"We've seen Congress is in rebellion," he said, "determined to wreck or ruin at all costs."

Jackson said the government’s direct hiring of the nation’s 15 million unemployed Americans would cost $600 billion.

:bash What's next? Seize all private property and assets then redistribute in equal parts to every citizen?!

I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

Jesse Jackson only has one skill and that's race division...what a joke. It did get me thinking though...why not require people who are getting unemploymennt checks to do just a little work for the public? Think about all the really poor and disabled people who need a little help...how about just 10 hours a week of public service until they find a job or until the 99 weeks runs out?

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

I think he's only looking at the salary cost and not taking into account the cost of benefits for 15 million.

This is a fallacy.... America doesn't have a blue collar work force that can do these public construction projects....we have relied on illegals to take the construction jobs over the past decade.

We don't have the materials to build half of those projects....much of the raw materials are located overseas.

So you're saying that it's impossible for any American to learn basic construction skills in order to earn an unemployment check? You think that they'd starve than work for welfare (if they won't get the welfare if they don't at least apply to work?).

Almost 75% of the unemployed is over the age of 35....how many of them are even capable of working on a construction site?

We need to give married families a tax incentive for mom to stay at home and raised their children instead taking a job from an able bodied man who has a family to support.

I think we should levy a tax on any company that provides customer service to US consumers with foreign call centers. All money collected should be placed into the social security fund.

I have floated the work for welfare idea on 285bound before, able bodied citizens receiving federal and state aid should work for their money just like those employed by private industry. Why not stand up an organization much like Civillian Conservation Corps of the 1930's? Put those folks to work, teach them viable trades and get some of the infrastructure improvement projects that Barry keeps saying need to be accomplished.

I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

The Republicans would never allocate the money for such a project. IMHO
