Seems to me that no one is talking about this, but we talk at length about when a Park County cop stops for milk on the way home in a county vehicle.
Does the article not say that the current BOCC improperly managed toxic waste and now the county has to take your tax money to pay a state fine? Why are the deciders not paying the price for their bad decision personally? Why is no one asking? Seems like it costs more than a new vehicle or two, let alone milk stops.
I am not speaking up because I am afraid to, just being honest. But I am willing to point it out here.
Wow, for someone to have such an incessant hard-on about the ParkCo S.O. and BOCC sure indicates that somebody must be sore about either being tossed out, or having run for it and lost. Just willing to point it out.

? This is a thread about how a decision was made by our local govt to commit an environmental crime and they got caught and fined and now the public has to pay for their poor decision. Actually it was a thread to point out how this is going to cost way more than what most people complain about the govt doing on this site.
It is interesting how this was not a political thread, unless you are a major polluter, but again someone tried to make it into one. Even if I generally don't agree with LJ, I was previously under the impression that she/he was at least a good communicator and listener. Whats with jumping the gun so early?
Why would reacting to that make one comment about erect male genitals and the sheriff? Could you clarify for those of us in this public forum that are not in the know of the issues or personal stuff you bring up?
Reading the headline in the Flume's subsection, it doesn't say anything about fines, but the article is old enough that it scrolled off of the Flumes front page. This looks like an argument for the communications building as the issue was outdoor electronics storage...
I am pretty sure I remember the state charging the county for the offense...otherwise what could the punishment be or can we just keep dumping at will?
Perhaps then we can talk about the article about how so many park county businesses, what many would consider core businesses, are not able to pay their taxes...and it is not just cause they don't want to.
Do you still shop at business that are known not to pay their taxes...do you know how much some of the towns and counties think they are owed just so someone can risk their livelihood on a business. Ever wonder why the rents for business space in Park are so much higher than they should be....it is the local taxes. Just looks some of them up, there is no reason these businesses should have to pay so much or that their properties, some of which on that list have been for sale for some time for lower than the valuation, do not sell.

I believe there is an old adage........"You get the government you deserve"'.....(paraphrase). Parkco has had MANY problems thru the years,it is my belief the general populace does NOT care enough to raise the bar for our officials......NOR vote to raise revenue. When you consider Parcko is one of the poorest (if not THE poorest) counties in Colorado, you realize the above adage is oh so true.
Well only in Park Cnty. can you break the law and get several dollars in fines, but it sound like Eisenman even got a PROMOTION out of it... Only in Park County..
