Only you and the other dumbass flaming liberals would think this is ok..big surprise there.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

It's a school district in Texas where one parent got upset. If Rick Perry is OK with it, so am I. Besides, don't you believe in states rights? What right do you have to dictate what they should or shouldn't be doing?

When I was in grade school we studied different countries, including Switzerland. The teacher brought Swiss Cheese for the class and we watched Heidi. We also studied Switzerland's government.

Should my parents have gotten upset?

So if the official language of the US is English, should the students pledging to England?

Why couldn't they recite OUR anthem in Spanish if it's just about learning?

It's about learning the culture of language, as the school district pointed out.

Again, this is in TEXAS, not Colorado. They should be able to do what they want without outsiders telling them how to run their schools just because one guy complained.

This is an actual event that happened to my son,
Son had to pick his classes for 10th grade, the school was andress HS el paso TX. So he picked his classes. For his language he selected German, that being his heritage. Now he goes in to do paperwork during the signup for the beginning of the year and they(those idiots that pretend to know what is best for the students)decided he was going to take spanish. After showing his councilor his selection sheet which showed the german vice spanish he was informed that he would not be taking german but spanish instead as that was becoming the more dominat language in the US. So I went to the councilor and asked who the hell gave him the authority to change my son's selection. He tried to explain to me that this is the way it is, spanish is the second language here in the us and that he would be required to take it. So I explained to this guy that spanish is not second to nothing and that my son will take German as his second language. I also called the school board about this also. They tried to tell me the same thing. I told them in very simple terms that that was BS and my son does not and will not take spanish. He did take German and did pretty well in it. So please do not tell me they should be able to do what they want and run their schools how they want. BULLSH**. The students and parents should have a say in what is done and how it is done. After all it is thier taxes that pay for it.

You misunderstood me. I meant schools in Texas should be able operate in Texas without influence or input from people in other states.

If it's really a problem let the LOCAL parents, school board and governor handle it.

I don't like people here deciding what is good or correct for people in another state. Let the states take care of their own problems, if they have them.

So far, this is one guy who married a Mexican national that can't speak English upset with what his kid's school is doing. (Oh, a few people on here, too).

Knowledge and communication are the keys to success in business and mutual understanding between parties who may not share the same citizenship and language. I have no beef with anyone who wants to learn more about another culture and learn to speak their language, in fact I am in favor of it.

In my travels around Europe and Asia I find that most people speak at least two or three languages at some level. If you know a few English, German, French, and Japanese phrases you'll likely meet with someone else that you can communicate with on a very basic level. Understanding other cultures and traditions can make your business dealings successful when you get it right.

Should Americans learn Spanish (and the Mexican dialects)? The reality is that there are too many people in the USA who don't speak English as a first language. If we are to communicate we need to understand each other and speak a few common phrases.

There are economic consequences for deporting illegal aliens, the cost of menial labor will go up and so will the prices associated with the products of that labor. I'd like to see a guest labor program that screens registered aliens and grants them the right to work in the US while they pay taxes and contribute to the economy but are only granted limited access to entitlements.

Does the public education system the right to dictate what languages a student may elect to study? Should any educator use the teaching of a language as a platform for indoctrination into another nation's allegiance? NO! As US citizens we have freedom of choice and it is guaranteed by the bill of rights and the constitution of the United States of America.

I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

Corruptissima re publica plurimae leges; When the Republic is at its most corrupt the laws are most numerous. - Publius Cornelius Tacitus
