Religious faith is a source of strength in many people's lives. But religious faith when taken too far can prove ludicrous -- or disastrous.

People tend to follow fads and I think the global warming church is just another fad past its prime, but unlike pet rocks or day-glo, the faddists wield a lot of power and will continue to influence public spending for decades.
I loved the indulgences theme. I see way too many eviro-types driving vehicles that get much worse mileage than mine and they buy much more gas than I do per year. Who is the true enviro?

I think that the hype will be stripped away leaving only the science. Now lets hope those who deny any human influence can do the same. Let science speak for itself. It doesn't need lobbyists.

I believe in mankind's influence, just look at urban heat islands and desertification, but I think the solutions are too draconian for first world nations and too limited and unenforcable for the developing world. Plus, who says 100 years ago is the best temp range for the planet.

These are discussions that are irrelevant to the science.

Well a study conducted by the Charles G. Koch Charitable Foundation discovered it is more than a fad!

The global warming fears will go away quickly once this country is bankrupt and we're burning furniture to keep warm.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

Independent Study Confirms That Global Warming Exists

The Berkeley Earth Surface Temperature Group was established to provide a robust, open measurement of surface temperatures, in a manner that addresses previous criticisms that temperature trends had been “cherry picked” or that “urban heat islands” provided a false picture of how fast temperatures on the Earth’s surface were rising. The Group is led by Dr. Robert Muller, a physicist who in the past had been notably critical of climate science methodology. The group is funded by a number of different sources, including Bill Gates’ Fund for Innovative Climate and Energy Research and the Charles G. Koch Charitable Foundation.

BEST has now released their data, and determined that their findings are well within the range of previous research. BEST’s findings indicate that in the past 50 years, the average land surface temperature of the Earth has increased about 0.911 degrees Celsius. Moreover, BEST concluded that past research by NOAA, NASA, and other groups were accurate in their estimates of warming.

This finding, conducted by a noted climate research skeptic and funded by a variety of non-partisan sources, should hopefully end the debate over whether the Earth is warming.

We are absolutely experiencing climate change and it is in the form of global warming. But many recognize the politics of AGW and though we contribute to this warming, we aren't the cause and can not effect change in it. Whether the change is a result of astrological cycle, sun activity or some other cause is still to be proven. Some believe carbon dioxide increases follow global warming, not precede and is the cause of it. If the earth hasn't previously experienced global warming, how did ocean fossils come to Colorado? Pole shifts, tectonic plate movement alone probably can't explain it.

The silent majority will be silent no more.

Global warming 'confirmed' by independent study

The Earth's surface really is getting warmer, a new analysis by a US scientific group set up in the wake of the "Climategate" affair has concluded.

The Berkeley Earth Project has used new methods and some new data, but finds the same warming trend seen by groups such as the UK Met Office and Nasa.

The project received funds from sources that back organisations lobbying against action on climate change.

"Climategate", in 2009, involved claims global warming had been exaggerated.

Emails of University of East Anglia (UEA) climate scientists were hacked, posted online and used by critics to allege manipulation of climate change data.
Fresh start

The Berkeley group says it has also found evidence that changing sea temperatures in the north Atlantic may be a major reason why the Earth's average temperature varies globally from year to year.
