Following Kathleen Willey's July 1997 claims of being groped by the President, there were a mere three reports. For Juanita Broaddrick, who came forward in February of 1999 to say Clinton raped her, only three stories followed charges appearing in the Wall Street Journal.
It should also be pointed out that all these women offered their names. They weren't anonymous. Additionally, the accusations of assault and rape go far beyond what's being mentioned with the Cain scandal.
Yet, on CBS's Early Show, Chris Wragge piled on, saying of a third possible Cain accuser, "That pretty much takes care of any hope he might have had to see this story fade any time soon."
Taking only a sample over 3 days? You can skew the results however you like by picking such a short window. How many total days/total stories were those scandals covered? I'm sure by the time this is all said and done, there will still be many more about Clinton than Cain; he was a president who faced impeachment due to this, not just a candidate in the infancy of the election season.
I'm not surprised that they're salivating over Cain - takes the heat off of them to report on OWS protests and other real issues. Distraction is the name of the game and the dialog wasn't pleasing the Powers That Be:

"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther
The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill
Cain is what you call a "target-rich environment"... The more he talks, the more he augers in... The more he regurgitates the Clarence Thomas "high-tech lynching" silliness, the more he's seen as hiding behind the talking points instead of dealing with the issues.
He's as big an idiot as Bachmann & Perry... Just give it time...
LadyJazzer wrote: And all of this dissimilar "Clinton did it too" has exactly what to do with Cain's situation and the fact that the story has changed 10 times in two days?
Clearly Cain isn't as polished and doesn't have as good a bimbo eruption team as the disbarred former President.
And another difference, so far based on what little Politico is revealing, Cain has done hardly anything compared to Slick Willie on the sexual advances front. No rape allegations, just some inappropriate comments and and no actual sex unlike President Bill.
Double standard? If you are a conservative African American male, mentioning pubic hairs on a Coke can are grounds for dismissal whearas white Lefty Teddy Kennedy can drown the women he is sleeping with and still be re-elected.
Thomas Sowell: There are no solutions, just trade-offs.
If dredging up the history of a very much alive Bill Clinton doesn't get the desired response, well then lets dredge up the dead Ted Kennedy's. Nicely done SS109.
None of which tells us much about Herman Cain and how this all will affect his candidacy.
neptunechimney wrote: Come on, you are not obtuse. This is the first 3 days of a breaking story, not 3 days picked at random to make figures lie.
This is true. However Cain was already a popular subject in the media during these 3 days because of the debates and the subject of his 999 plan. He was the current newsmaker or "the flavor of the month" so it makes sence that the accusations put him that much higher on the radar of media attention.

Is it time to drag out the unindicted co-conspirators and Nixon's resignation? I mean, if we want to keep digging up irrelevant past history....?
Oops... today's (11-04-2011) press release from the National Restaurant Association.
“Based upon the information currently available, we can confirm that more than a decade ago, in July 1999, Mr. Bennett’s client filed a formal internal complaint, in accordance with the Association’s existing policies prohibiting discrimination and harassment. Mr. Herman Cain disputed the allegations in the complaint. The Association and Mr. Bennett’s client subsequently entered into an agreement to resolve the matter, without any admission of liability. Mr. Cain was not a party to that agreement. The agreement contains mutual confidentiality obligations. Notwithstanding the Association’s ongoing policy of maintaining the privacy of all personnel matters, we have advised Mr. Bennett that we are willing to waive the confidentiality of this matter and permit Mr. Bennett’s client to comment. As indicated in Mr. Bennett’s statement, his client prefers not to be further involved with this matter and we will respect her decision.[/i]
This is the client who all this past week kept complaining that she was MORE THAN WILLING to go public with what happened. So the National Restaurant Association gives her a release from her confidentiality agreement and what happens... bingo... she now has nothing to say. Wait... I know... Karl Rove got to her... clever bast**d. Or maybe Fox News offered her own reality show if she kept her mouth shut. Or maybe Cain called her and promised her another round of "the sweet thing"... I bet we could come up with all kinds of conspiracy theories to account for this woman's sudden about face.

If you drown her on the same day the first manned moon landing mission goes into lunar orbit (July 19, 1969), you can count on it not being very high on anyone's radar. Just sayin...
