WELD COUNTY - A middle school student in Weld County says she was threatened with a failing grade for an art project that reads, "Feel your boobies: love the way they feel."

The assignment was to complete an awareness art project at Weld Central Junior High, and 8th grader Catherine Smith says she wanted to recognize patients who have been diagnosed with breast cancer.

"Men and women die because of this," Smith said.

"So I just decided to do breast cancer awareness. It's very special to me," she added.

My bet - an ad agency will pick up her original project - and pay her a hefty chunk (enough to pay for college) ----

The teacher was silly and uptight about what appears to be a very serious topic ----

Art moves us out of comfort zones - which is what we need for breast cancer awareness.

The student deserves an A.
