Who can join the Tea Party?

01 Nov 2011 08:27 #1 by Reverend Revelant
You're blurb on the front page of the Courthouse forum say "A political advocacy for Conservative American principles. We propose a positive direction for Conservative Americans; focusing on folks living along the "285 Corridor"." I thought the Tea Party was open to people of all political persuasions... Democrats, Republicans, Independents... what's up with that?

If I were running the Conifer Tea Party I would run all the socialists and commies away!

I'd suggest - go join a group more in tune with leftist politics, maybe start an "Occupy Conifer" protest.

Why would the tea party be open to leftists? They are the idiots that got us into this big government mess!

Er... because Tea Party groups do offer membership to Libertarians, Independents and Democrats.

Myth-busting polls: Tea Party members are average Americans, 41% are Democrats, independents

They've been portrayed variously as angry fringe elements, often inarticulate, potentially violent and merely Republicans in sheep's clothing or disgruntled pockets of conservatives blindly lashing out at a left-handed President Obama and the same side of his Democratic Party finally getting its chance to drive home a liberal agenda after eight years of Republican rule and six under a centrist Bill Clinton.

The Tea Party adherents broke down 28% independent, 17% Democrat and only 57% Republican. Not coincidentally, this bipartisan breakdown has been the way that Tea Party favorite Sarah Palin has often described movement members as "commonsense Americans" worried and....

While economic issues like stubbornly high unemployment rates and declining home values cause widespread worries, Winston found top issues among the self-identified Tea Party followers are jobs/the economy and the exploding federal deficit.

I suspect you are not running the Conifer Tea Party. And if you are, I would suggest that the membership of the Conifer Tea Party consider replacing your dictatorship with a human being. People from the right and the left are suffering from unemployment and financial problems. Just like the Tea Party doesn't support ALL Republicans... doesn't consider ALL Republicans to be small government minded enough... neither do all DEMOCRATS consider everything the left does as gospel. You're a prime example of why some on the right come across as someone who just learned to walk upright last week... I suspect you're still fascinated by shiny objects?

Evidently you are not a knowledgeable spokesperson for the Conifer Tea Party. Hopefully some member of the group that actually has a clue will answer my question.

Go crawl back under your rock.

No I do not run the 285 Tea party, but I believe in a smaller limited government, personal responsibility and conservative politics.

I suspect the reason why you started this thread was to bad mouth the tea party- and I suspect your politics do not jive with what the tea party stands for, otherwise you would not be raising the question right?

You would just go to the meetings if you're in agreement, which you are not- correct?

Maybe you should take your own advise- and find that rock you were talking about!

No.. I wouldn't just go to a meeting... wrong. I've already found Tea Party chapters who don't want anyone who's not a card carrying Nazi in the group. I was hoping that the Conifer Tea Party might be different. And you have no idea about my politics... wrong. You have no idea if my politics are changing. And you don't have to confirm that you don't "run the 285 Tea Party." That was evident from your stupid response. Hopefully an intelligent representative of the group will answer my question.

So as a non-tea party running individual, let me be the first person to officially suggest that you shove your lefty politics where the sun don't shine!

Your Welcome!

The primary focus of the 285 Corridor Tea Party Group is to help drive to a smaller fiscally conservative government at all levels. We have among our group Republicans, Libertarians, independents, and one would suspect a Democrat and Green or two. While a smaller more fiscally conservative government is our primary goal, other issues such as illegal immigration and protecting the Second Amendment are important issues for some of our group. We are not a homogenous group. If there are card carrying Nazis within our group they have not made their presence known.

Everyone is more than welcome to come to a meeting and see for themselves. The next meeting notice will be posted in this forum.

The "Nazi" comment was made for BearMtnHIV's sake, since she seemed so adamant about not giving me any respect. Yes... am aware that most Tea Party groups have some diversity in them, but I have come across some that really don't welcome those who identify with other political persuasions. That's why I was trying to be polite and ask first, before I just dropped in on a meeting and disturbed the status quo. My subsequent derisive remarks were not for the 285 group in whole. At least I was hoping the whole group wasn't of the same level of anti-social mentality as displayed by BearMtnHIV.

I will be looking forward to the next meeting (and meeting BearMtnHIV if she cares to identify herself when I'm there). Thanks for the info.
