It does stand out, in a bad way. But if it created one job...

I'm asking that the next one be built across 285 to Cruz Inn so I don't have to cross the street from Pine Junction.

But is that Jefferson or Park county? I'm sure Jefferson would build one, but Park??

This was absolutely the worst affront to taxpayer money in recent years in the Southwest Plaza area. I lived right near there, and at the time assumed that either they were moving the bus stop across the street and needed the extra pathway, or that Southwest Plaza / Bowles Crossing has payed for a portion of the bridge, and none of those things are true.

There are no Southwest light rail or commuter rail plans, and here we sit, with a brand new bridge, and ZERO pedestrian/car indicents at that corner in the past eight years. This bridge should have never been built, the lane should have never been expanded, and this proves exactly how the government works. If they dont' spend their budget, they're afraid they'll get it cut, so SPEND IT ALL, QUICK!

This is a perfect example of how government, at all levels, will misuse funds to sustain their own budget.

I suspect that if someone got all the way to the bottom of this they would find that it wasn't so much a case of trying to spend their budget in order to maintain it as much as it was a case of some loud and demanding citizen insisting that this be done for some lame-brain reason or another. THAT's the way that local government tends to work in Jeffco. It's very reactive.

Safety wasn't the issue, no one uses it, it is government waste pure and simple.

Well, let's put our collective brains to work. Is there anything you can think of (aside from a pigeon roost) that could be done with this, something positive and useful? I'm still thinking.
