I don't think we will ever have a President named "Newt," especially when it comes up (and it will, repeatedly) that he divorced one of his wives while she was in the hospital suffering from cancer. People don't forgive that kind of behavior.

Obama is actually very smart. He has a brain and look where that got us. The most important thing in my opinion is their track record and the plans they have put forth so far and their vision for America and how it stacks up with what the majority of Americans are looking for. And their morals really do matter to many Conservative voters. So far Newt and Cain have ben attacked on those.

I agree and he has been vetted before on that, but that and several other things will all come up again if he takes the lead.

Are you saying that we should elect non-smart people? I'm just asking.

Obama is book smart big fing deal. And at this point, I doubt morals will matter a whole lot when faced with a decision to keep Obama or not. When unemployment is still high and our weakened position in the world has gotten worse, I doubt many conservatives are going to stay home because of moral or social issues. And sorry Viking, Perry is DONE so you may as well just wait until the real candidate is picked instead of bashing everyone but Perry...what a waste of time.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

On the minus side: Gingrich has had a messy personal life, including an extramarital affair with the woman who is now his wife while he was married to his second wife. And that was all going on while he led the charge against President Clinton for his infidelity with intern Monica Lewinsky. Gingrich also faced ethics charges as speaker, most of which were dropped. But on one charge, related to the use of a tax-exempt college course for political purposes, he was reprimanded by the House and fined $300,000. After a sub-par performance by Republicans in the 1998 midterms, Gingrich was forced out of the speakership by a rebellion in his own GOP ranks.

52.2 of Americans divorce...what's your take on that? People make mistakes, they move on. I think that you should move on as well. He is a smart man, and would do very well against obama. I am willing to let the process play out, and see what happens..JMTCW

I have no take on that. Divorce happens to a lot of people.

How many your percentage divorce partners marry the woman they're having an affair with?

(Edited to remove mistaken reference to cancer. It was a benign tumor, so that's OK, apparently.)

I'm not interested in electing yet another self-serving piece of crap to the Whitehouse just because he is a Republican. I'm not willing to whore out my values for the sake of a political party victory. If you are honeatly telling me that my only choices are between adulterers and clueless pretty faces then I have to concede that we are doomed as a nation. I'm not buying it. We get such piss-poor candidates because they know that ultimately we will vote for the party, not the person. That is our fault and ours alone.

No but you can't just elect people BECAUSE they are smart either. If you look it up, many serial killers were genius's! So that should not be at the top of the list.
