Retail Employees Having To Work Thanksgiving Night?

Anyone else think this is wrong?

I know other people have to work Thanksgiving but I think I will boycott the stores that are having their employees come in at 10 on Thanksgiving and working 10 hour days so they are ready for Black Friday.

They don't really have to work, they could quit and go join the OWS movement. When you take a job in retail, resorts, and some public service sector jobs Fire Police Military ect. You know going in you are going to work holidays.

In a related note a caller to Thom Hartmann just yesterday called for a federal law to keep businesses closed on two holidays for just that reason. Is this going around the blogosphere?

And because one caller to a talk show made a stupid suggestion, this would be cause for concern because.......?

God, if I had a nickel for every stupid call to Rosen, Hannity, Beck, Limbaugh, I could retire as one of the job-creating 1%.....

If you want something to worry about, those nuts that brought you the last two "personhood" amendments in Colorado that were defeated overwhelmingly, are going to try it again in 2012.... (I wonder if they're related to the people that keep trying to pass a Conifer Parks & Rec District?)

Yes, I think it is wrong. But then, maybe you shouldn't ask me. I thought it was wrong when "retail" invaded Sundays.

Nothing is sacred anymore, quite literally.

I didn't get paid for overtime when I worked on January 1 at a major department store. We were required to work. Just part of the 40 hour work week.

I was happy the store was closed Thanksgiving and Christmas.
