Russian newsreader gives Obama the bird

In the footage, Tatyana Limanova, an award-winning senior newsreader at the channel, can be seen briskly reading out an item about how Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has just assumed the rotating chairmanship of the Asia Pacific Cooperation organisation.

She is then heard to say that the post "has (previously) been held by Barack Obama" before mechanically and unambiguously raising her left arm and showing the camera her raised middle finger in an offensive gesture that is sometimes known as "flipping the bird."

(Frankly, I'm surprised this isn't a daily occurrence at Fox News.)

This doesn't surprise me whatsoever, obama is known as a weak leader in the world...as far as Fox, only wishful thinking... :Crying:

Hopefully we'll get some strong Republican in the White House who can show him how it's supposed to be done and all our economic woes will vanish overnight.

You laugh but a change in the white house is all it may take to change the perception- the economy could indeed turn around almost overnight. Just knowing that someone is there who will cut regulations and make policy that is business friendly might be all it takes.

In fact, this has happened before- I'm sure you remember the economy that Carter left us with in 1980- and while it took 18 months for inflation to come down from 18% to 6%- the process started almost immediately because the attitude of the country had changed.

So don't laugh.

You may be forgetting about a deeply divided Congress, unable to reach agreement, standing in the way. The Super Committee was only the tip of the iceberg.

Do Russians actually "Flip the Bird"? Or is she just doing that for American audiences? I know Britain has their own hand gestures.

One of my teachers was a former Peace Corps volunteer and he trained his village to flip the bird as tourists went by.

Personally I would have taught them to moon the tourists like you do to railroad passengers.

If you happen to travel to Russia and other parts of Eastern Europe be careful when flashing the "okay" sign formed by the thumb and forefinger. Natives take that hand signal to mean "stick it up your..."

I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

I think she was just showing her great admiration for him and his leadership. He is a Nobel Peace Prize recipient you know. Remember? For the Middle East peace process? Ya, that prize.

Thank God we elected such an intelligent and sophisticated President. Now the world loves us and our economy is running like a fine tuned clock. Also, the nation is joined and working together well. The only word that comes to my head is harmony.
