U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords helped serve a Thanksgiving meal to service members and retirees at a military base in her hometown of Tucson, Ariz. She was accompanied by her retired astronaut husband, Mark Kelly, who also donned an apron.

Giffords used only her left hand as she served, a sign that physical damage remains from the injuries she suffered when she was shot in January.

Much injustice reigns domestically and internationally. Frankly, the less government I see the more I like it. There will always be citizens who reach out to help and those who reach out to take. (OK, I'm a bit riled up over watching a video about the Antelope desert fiasco coming out of LA) As much as that video evoked a viseral reaction from me to fight, the Gifford's thoughtful service is heartwarming.
