Gingrich wins Union Leader endorsement

This will put a big kink in Romney's plans. This is the paper that Cain blew off and then was the only one to refuse cameras in the room. He blew it big time with that one!

I still think Newt's got too much baggage to win the national election, but he might pull off the nomination.

I don't think it will hurt Romney much in NH...he's polling 30 points over Gingrich there and I think they just know that Romney is a more likeable guy and will be able to beat Obama. I prefer Gingrich but I also know the MSM would use his bagage for a non stop bash fest.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

I am worried about that too but he seems to be the only anti Romnney candidate that the Republicans want. They are choosing the candidate with the most baggage. I don't get it but obviously people aren't thinking this year. And as I said, he is my second choice only by default.

He will probably be within 15-20 points in NH due to this endorsement and they said this morning that if Newt wins Iowa that will be a huge boost going into NH and could pull him within 10. He may not win but that is almost the same as a loss for Romney dropping from 30 points to under 10 going into SC and Fla where Newt is leading in the polls.

And there is a story out now showing all the Judges that Romney appointed. VERY moderate and many liberal ones. That is HUGE this election as 2-3 will step down form the SCOTUS. That will hurt Romney.

I still don't see this election being one where social issues are very important. I see this as being all about who is the most electable against Obama and who has an understanding of economics and business experience. The economy will trump all other social issues which won't come into play until the economy recovers. No matter what liberal moves Romney made in the past, he knows what kind of pressure he would get from conservatives to make the "right" moves.

Insiders are saying that Palin will most likely endorse Newt. If that happens, that will be a HUGE boost to him and overcome his illegal immigration stance.

I think Newt has a pretty reasonable stance on immigration and I don't interpret it like Bachman is. He understands you can't deport that many people who have been here for a long time. I have a friend who is 33 years old and came from Mexico with his family when he was 13. He would be as lost in Mexico as I would...no friends, family, or job. His wife is legal but he's not and just works odd jobs for cash.

I think Clintons semi endorsement of Gingrich would help him with independants. But no matter who gets the nomination, Republicans will walk through fire and broken glass to vote for him.

What still amazes me is why people would choose Newt over Perry if they are looking for the most successful, qualified and most conservative candidate. They are so much alike in many ways.

The similarities. Lots of time in office. Actually Perry longer and much more recent. 27 years compared to Newt's 20 years. And Perry was Sec of Agriculture so he knows farmers and ranchers too.

Perry has never lost an election. Newt lost a couple. And Newt was the Speaker of the House when Republicans lost five seats in the House in the 1998 midterm elections—the worst performance in 64 years for a party that didn't hold the presidency so he resigned.

Newt is not great at organization or raising money at all. Perry is great at both. In three campaigns for governor, Mr. Perry has raised $102 million, including more than $39 million during his successful 2010 bid for re-election. The Republican Governors Association, of which Mr. Perry is chairman, raised a record $22.1 million during the first half of this year.

Then you go to illegal immigration which is why many left Perry. But Newt has the EXACT same views on them if not further to the left. In fact Perry is the ONLY candidate to have passed laws requiring ID for voting, closing sanctuary cites and he spent over $500 million of his own states money to put Rangers and others on the border to help close it since Bush and Obama would not help them.

Then you go to baggage and personal issues. Perry has no baggage. Newt 2 affairs and 3 wives, that will turn off a lot on the far right. Newt has a cap and trade video with Pelosi and has toured with Al Sharpton this year promoting a plan for Obama. He has flipped on several issues where as Perry has stood strong on all his beliefs.

Perry is the ONLY candidate to pass TORT reform and stop taxes from going to Planned Parenthood in his state.

Perry is the ONLY candidate to still be working. He just got through two new great bills in Texas this week. Newt hasn't done anything other than books and getting almost $1.8 million for advising Freddie Mac. And we all know how that worked out.

Perry is the ONLY candidate to have created policies that created over a million jobs in the last several years and attracted many businesses to his state and back to the US. Newt has never created a job and has raised taxes several times.

Perry balanced 10 budgets even through a recession. Newt, in the greatest economic boom in recent history could only balance 2 out of 4 as Speaker of the House.

The downside to Perry why people go to Newt over ALL of the facts? Newt is a smoother talker and debater than Perry. Really? THAT is what conservatives vote on now? Perry has Newt beat in almost every way other than that.

And I know people will make fun here and make jabs about me supporting Perry but they won't talk about the facts I just posted.
