Oh, wait... They are....
You really think only 2% of people on welfare test positive for drugs? I doubt any population on earth tests that low for drug use, including prisons and Buddhist monasteries.
And I would actually test clean, but do plan to go back on drugs once I retire and jump on the public SS dole. Keep on trucking!
My mom has told us all that once she hits 75, she is going to start drinking and smoking again. She figures she should have some reward for living that long.

I don't even take any legally prescribed medications. Half our righties are probably out of their minds on Oxycontin or something. Probably makes Rush make more sense.

Benies? Or should that be Bennies, benexadrine?
I am on all kinds of prescriptions for blood pressure, cholesterol, etc, but nothing fun like Oxycontin.

I would bet that upwards of 99% of these scared angry white republican males are on Anti Depressants..
At 2%, that means that the people on welfare take less drugs than just about anyone in Fla. Isn't there a higher percentage of CO people that have their MMJ license...and many pot smokers wont even get that lic, then there are all the other drugs out there - I hear meth is big as you go west and north in CO.
How would parents or everyone feel if we had the same test for students and parents, since they rcv a giant govt payout for their $10k a year in schooling? If they fail, no funding for 1 year, 2nd fail in the family and no funding for 5 years with monthly retesting. In CO we can exempt MMJ (or Park County would become private schools by default with no funding, see the same people kissing their kids at the dance recitals as going in and out of the dispensaries, maybe they just work there).
Oh and you don't have to pass a drug test to get most jobs, only some so that is not a requirement, it is a choice still for now. And I also agree that you give up freedom to get many benefits (like having to look for a job) so if society feels this is another trade off that is needed for the benefit, it should not be discounted on the loss of freedom issue....though I think it is silly and a waste of money, we should debate the effect.
I read a comment somewhere that said this sounded fine, lets just make sure to drug test everyone that got a big tarp bailout too.
I am also curious, Mother with 2 kids lost her job, trying hard and was at a Thanksgiving and took a couple hits off a joint, no driving, just relaxing with family, smoking week like 100,000's if not millions of other Americans were doing with their families just a couple weeks ago. She now fails her drug test and is denied unemployment, even though I don't agree with the unemployment system, so don't get on my case for that, how have we helped society or that family? Are we waiting for her to be so poor that she gives her kids up or will the state simply take them away? Even if you don't like drugs, how's that drugie warie thing working out for ya? Seems like standing on your principal on the drug war just ends up with local cops in tanks and bigger jails.
Might be nice to keep a few of those around the house.
If you keep them around the house, what would you use them for, can't you remember which drugs you took? If your kids on on those drugs, you likely already know it and there is a good chance you are taking one of them already and that's where they figured out it won't kill you.

Just a hunch
I have a relative that reviews doctor's health screenings for people that go on a particular type of research trip internationally. They have HS kids, mid aged professionals and retirees. She says that 8/10 of these people, that have some $ and are not deadbeats...are on some kind of antidepressant, pschyo, add drug to modify their moods and behavior. I guess when you are poor, you just cant afford the script and you go to street drugs. Point being that little Billy, Attny Roger and Grandma are all popping strong drugs to change their perception of reality. Those that do not are in the MINORITY, even if posters here will claim to be in that group. I love hearing the parents of teenage kids pretend their kid isn't on anything....odds are that they are, odds are even better that they are on it because you took them to the doc because you couldn't deal with them being a kid.
Again, not based on the media, but the med forms that people's doctor's fill out for them. \
