Democrats like to think of themselves as the party of smart people. And over the last four years we have heard countless encomiums, and not just from Democrats, of the intellect and perceptiveness of Barack Obama. But a reading of the text of Obama’s December 6 speech at Osawatomie, Kansas, billed as one of his big speeches of the year, shows him to be something like the opposite.
Even by the standards of campaign rhetoric, this is a shockingly shoddy piece of work."......................
It has to be hard to address the public and be convincing as the POTUS when your message is how well the economy is improving under your own administration. Congress can't pass a bill and the average American is struggling to pay the bills, never mind celebrate the holidays and give gifts.
I recall more than one Christmas when my stocking contained a couple of oranges and some chocolate and the gifts were a couple shirts, some socks and underwear, looking back I can't help but be grateful. My best wishes to all who are really struggling this season, I wish everyone better luck in 2012 and beyond.
I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

I'll buy the first round! Being poor is nothing to be ashamed of, not improving yourself and providing for yourself and your family is.

Yet conservatives complain so hard when a person, in an attempt to improve himself and provide for his family, turns to the government for help. That seems to be a contradiction. Why is that.
I do not have a problem with someone doing what ever is needed to provide for thier family so long as it is not illegal. If that means getting from the government so be it. For a lot of those out there right now, that is the only means of barely keeping thier heads above water.
