I'm sure some will argue that the young mother should have just waited for the police to arrive... I'm glad that this young lady not only had access to the tools she needed protect herself and her son but she also knew how and when to use them.
I know it's not a practical solution for everyone but one or two big furry alarm systems with sharp teeth might have helped to discourage the perpetrators.
