Yup - I'd do the same thing

According to one story I read, she had dogs and they were poisoned earlier in the week - apparently the attackers planned this for some time. I'm with LJ - I'd be happy to send her $$ to cover the ammunition cost.

"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther

The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill

I'm tired of bullcrap.

An Oklahoma woman shoots an intruder....... From the facts given, I'd likely do the same ---- Bravo.

From the vid it looked like a double barrel so unless she was an expert pistol shot she was clearly irresponsible. She should have put two through the door to give more time to reload. :like:

Dogs, even trained ones, are most often a slight deterrent in some cases. The ones that are typically sought for the best training, don't have enough weight in many instances and the ones with the most weight usually lack the intelligence to perform at "attack" levels. Besides that... how many of the 'average' family own attack dogs?

And then there's the fact of 21 minutes. A.k.a. twenty one minutes, 9- 60 second intervals short of half an hour, 10x2+1..... I'm referring to response time of law enforcement. Sound ridiculous? Try living back here in HP. Do I blame LE? No, geographical logistics help bring physics and the laws of motion to the table of the weak minded.

Glad this one played out the way it did. I can send ammo.... given her area I could also see about raising a donation for a "back up plan" she might find useful.

If a man broke into her home, carrying a knife - I think she's justified in shooting him.

There are a couple of odd things, though:

a) http://www.koco.com/news/30133921/detail.html
you can see she does have a dog.

b) Why isn't the dog going absolutely nuts when she's on the phone? (shepherds don't like that kind of thing - they sense danger, and respond).

c) There's lots of photos and videos of her with her coach gun. Don't police keep the weapon in question over the course of investigating the incident? (granted, it looks like a justifiable shooting)

Like I said in my initial post - bravo - I'd do the same thing given the circumstances described.

Too bad only one of these turds is rotting in the ground instead of both of them. I'd be happy to send this young lady a pair of Anatolian Shepard pups and as much ammo as she needs.

How you socialize the dog is a big factor, I don't condone raising dogs that are vicious and only know how to attack anything in their space, smart dogs know friend from foe. My Father and Grand Father always told me dogs are like hammers; you might have a favorite but over time they wear out and you can always buy a new and improved one. I know for sure I would be beside myself if I found the Wundermutt poisoned, I would be on the hunt for the DMF that did it and very likely end up in prison once I found the MF that committed the crime.

I can't begin to imagine the grief a young wife and mother of 18 years old must be feeling after loosing her husband to cancer on Christmas and to have her home invaded only a few days later. The sequence of events makes me wonder if this isn't gang related or somehow related to organized crime.

I can explain it to you but I can't understand it for you.

The oddest thing I see is why didn't someone council her to STFU. In my CCW class we were told to say nothing to anyone even the police. Even with no criminal charges anything you say could be used in a civil suite.

For those that want to send Ammo, just send it to the local police and ask them to deliver it. Gee, I bet you can find her address. Be sure to let the news agencies know and you will get some press too, but again, we all know these are just internet words to make one look tough....so why even say you would do something you can easily do and not do it?...or let me know how it goes.

It will be interesting if the families sue in civil court. She did kill and did admit it. Though the police might feel it was justified, we have created the two prong system, so something tells me this ain't over, there is a civil court system to milk and lots of lawyers to help.
