Now just in time for elections 500k military jobs cut

After the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan that defined the first decade of the 21st century, Mr Obama's blueprint for the military's future acknowledged that America will no longer have the resources to conduct two such major operations simultaneously.

Good... Since the two unnecessary wars consumed over a $TRILLION, weren't paid for, and didn't need to be fought in the first place, anybody else dumb enough to put boots on the ground in another unnecessary Middle East war should be constrained by the fact that the Army has been put on a diet--finally--and can't afford it.

And this is a bad thing because______________?

Not bad LJ just took him 3 YEARS to get the ball rolling.
And the timing as of the election year.

I am all for it, why do we need a 2.8B$ new jet when the 15's and 16's are just as good if not better.
And like one of my boys said why the hell do I need gatoraide every meal, the money could go for something else.

You mean the jet that Bush ramrodded through to appease his Defense Contractor buddies?...Gee, I don't know.. Why don't you ask Bush?

Sort of reminds me of the 3rd year of Bush-41's presidency, when he suddenly approved of new F-16s played a role during the 1992 presidential campaign that he would sell Taiwan 150 of the A/B models. He signaled an intent to do so during a campaign rally at the General Dynamics plant then producing them in Texas where jobs had been in danger.

Couldn't possibly have been one of those "election year" things.... Really?

Martin,
You aren't listening to the proper spin. It isn't vets having twice the unemployment rate under Obama, it is Barack brought the troops home for Christmas.

Oh, but I did respond...directly to the OP... And all that's happened since then are the deflections and usual attacks on me for posting... So, I'll post it again, in case you missed it:

So Libya which replaced a murderous dictator was good to go, but Iraq which replaced a murderous dictator and allowed the Shia population to finally wield power didn't need to be fought?

Afghanistan? Restoring rights and education to Afghani women was unnecessary? Good to hear LJ is such a misogynist.
I didn't think it was a good idea to put boots on the ground in Afghanistan or Iraq, but I am at least pleased to see the people of Afghanistan gain freedom from a fundamentalist minority and in Iraq that the Sunni minority is no longer killing the Kurds and Shias freely.

Speaking of deflection, and non-response responses....

Again, Shia/Suni civil wars, restoring rights & education to Afghani women, while laudable, is NOT our responsibility. We are NOT the world's cop... (See: Ron Paul)....

You obviously don't give a sh*t about our own citizens who are hungry, unemployed, looking for work, unable to afford their heating bills in the winter, etc....So, I'm truly touched that you would have the U.S. taxpayer pick up the tab for all this largesse in Afghanistan and Iraq for Muslim civil wars that have gone on for hundreds of years. (And we all know how much you love Muslims....)
