And replace it with what?

So... that was caused by a nuclear bomb?

It is interesting that there has never been even a dirty bomb exploded by terrorists in the US. Much less a nuke.

All it would take is to send over a lead lined fishing trawler full of radioactive material and blow it up in a major US harbor. Or hijack a cargo jet loaded up with uranium and crash it in San Fran and let the wind carry the radiation eastward.

Still waiting for the brilliant response to my question about getting off the oil tit and replace it with what? The booming (or make that bombing) solar or wind energy industries? Today Vestas Wind Systems announced its intention to lay off 3,000 employees. Or will it be magic?

The USA could cut off their consumption of Middle Eastern oil quickly, if they so-desired.

Only 15% of middle east oil goes to "the west" (maybe 10% to the USA).

AND - only about 15% of the petro products imported into the USA come from the Middle East.

We don't depend on Middle Eastern oil all that much. In fact - our biggest petrol exporter is Canada.

Want to get out of the muddle east? Open the taps in Canada, Mexico, and the Atlantic seaboard ---
and speed up approval process for domestic energy exploration.

IMHO if they are here they are in the WDC-Boston corridor........biggest bang for the effort.

No joking matter.

... and no proof on your part.

Proof of what, there does not need to be any proof. There does not need to be any link. No where did he state it has happened, Read. He states could have. And yes it is a possibility.

I love it when people say "speed up the domestic energy exploration"... WHAT makes you think that gas/oil/energy extracted in the U.S. will go to the U.S. for consumption. It will be sold to the highest bidder...and if that happens not to be the U.S., then tough luck....

At least as far as we know. I do not believe IMO, that we would be told if they found such a device and defused it or prevented the attack. I think it would cause to much craziness in the US. We may never know, then it again you may be right on the money and it has never happened or attempted.

Good point especially since the US last exported more than it imported.

we export finished petrol products ---- we import more raw material on a 5:1 margin.
