Low IQ & Conservative Beliefs Linked to Prejudice

LJ, don't go too far with this and say all conservatives are racist. LOL But really, I don't believe this. And I hate to break it to you, there are prejudiced, racist African Americans. Many. And they make fun of white people. Using the word conservative in this article tells me it is biased.

There's no gentle way to put it: People who give in to racism and prejudice may simply be dumb, according to a new study that is bound to stir public controversy.

The research finds that children with low intelligence are more likely to hold prejudiced attitudes as adults. These findings point to a vicious cycle, according to lead researcher Gordon Hodson, a psychologist at Brock University in Ontario. Low-intelligence adults tend to gravitate toward socially conservative ideologies, the study found. Those ideologies, in turn, stress hierarchy and resistance to change, attitudes that can contribute to prejudice, Hodson wrote in an email to LiveScience.

Fascinating. So where will we take this in the future? Will man kind find ways of enhancing intelligence through genetic manipulation and thereby eliminate or mitigate racism and prejudice?

I agree that a lower IQ would lead to a higher probability that that person would be racist....just look at Al Sharpton as a prime example.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

That is what Margaret Sanger believed: eugenics.

Most studies attribute racism to groups in general, not conservative or liberal intelligence specifically... "Some capacity for favoritism of one's own group over others appears to be a natural human tendency. In many studies, people attribute more positive traits to their own group than to other groups. This has been demonstrated cross culturally." It seems that stereotyping plays a more important role in racism then intelligence... "Considering his findings, Petty notes that his study is not the first to show that activating stereotypes affects those who hold them." For a matter of fact, if you were to try and tag any ideology to racism, studies have shown that racism has more of a tendency to rear it's ugly head among a collectivist ideology... "Racism: a concept created and propagated by collectivists. So, what is ‘simple racism’? That rather depends upon who you ask. Roentsch (1985b) offers a useful definition: “Let there be no misunderstanding. ... a racist is anyone who accepts the existence of racial collectives”, i.e. assigns attributes to an individual purely on the basis of their membership of a racial group; usually of a negative kind in the way that racism is commonly meant."

A quick search shows most scientific papers seem to indicate that racism is not attached to any particular level of intelligence but more tied to a particular group dynamics and the ability to stereotype? The article above sounds like junk science.

There have been studies that show intelligent people take longer showers. So, that induces ignoramouses to voluntarily take longer showers in hopes of increasing their IQ.

Just for what its worth. The article is not a scientific publication but a news report on a scientific study. One may wonder what caveats were left out of this report. A key word that seems to be lost in all this is "may" as in low IW may be linked to racism tendencies. That is a far cry from saying "is linked". Clearly outstanding questions remain to be answered and clear links established.

I believe racist people can be very stupid however, I think that Ann Coulter is crazy and can be racist and I happen to believe she is intelligent and very quick witted. She just uses that for silly reasons and she is funny in the fact that she comes up with such crazy stuff.

I don't think it has to do with intelligence as much as it is a choice. I may be wrong. My grandfather was one of the most racist people you will ever meet. I don't think he was stupid in many parts of his life and I know he was a very creative person. I think we all can be smart in one part of our lives and dumb in others. JMO.

I think it only takes one bad experience for SOME people to become racist. I know a woman (white)who was mugged by a black man decades ago and she still makes racist comments about black men. Her mom and dad have never been racist but she has made up her mind.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

Its all fear an hatred..Obviously ..Don't need a study to tell me that-Most of you here are the ugliest people in this world. Thats what I believe and thats why i'm such an asshole here..You deserve no respect- I treat some people here like s**t because thats what they are-

I hate living amongst such backwood self centered haters- You people are the modern day witch burners, and it'l hit ya right in the face one day-So remember who told ya first. I'm not F-ing around now-You "conservatives" have somehow turned selfishness and hating into a virtue in your minds..Its sickening and I'll never attend picnics or VFW breakfests or anything else with you lowlifes.. I like unselfish, considerate, empathatic kind people. Always have- Thats how I was raised..My mother cared about me- I think many of you conservatives were beat as children, or just weren't loved at all..Thats what I've always thought- You're angry at the world, you hate people, you live in terror that someone might get some help when they're down, the very thought of someone getting free health care when they get sick makes you sick and and you blame ALL your misery on others..

I cannot stand being here at times..I just don't want to be a part of this filthy rolling ball of hatred..A bunch of ugly thoughts being validated by eachother- Constantly reassuring eachother thats it's ok to go through life as a self centered asshole- You republicans get comfort here, I get the same feeling I get when you go into an outhouse and look down the hole- You know, that I gotta get the f*&k outta here right now feeling?

Thats what 285bound it looks like to me-
