Good topic and a very important topic. Dosn't suprise me that most posters here are ignorant of the ramifications - and this has nothing at all to do with the banks.
This is the IRS tax code- and our government who has instituted this law. What it means is that all those people who are walking away from a house they could not afford- or going bankrupt and skipping out on credit card debt will probably have the IRS catch up to them. The government is looking to squeeze every last source of revenue it can- since we are way beyond broke.
Now there was a temporary exclusion for a few years- enacted in 2008 I believe. Those people who went bankrupt or walked away from a house during those few years may get away with it- but millions of others will get caught in this IRS trap.
The IRS is the most vicious, ruthless collection agency on planet earth- and once they have you in their grips- it's hard to ever recover from their wrath. If you think you got away scott free- think again. You may have the IRS catch up to you after all!
And they will dog ya till you're dead and gone and probably for a time after that.
Being responsible with you're money- living below you're means- and advocating for smaller less intrusive government is in everyone's self interest- and it's in the best interest of the country as a whole.

Yes they are SOBs, and the almost unlimited power of the IRS and Feds to tax is probably what has kept the USA credit rating at top notch for so long. In theory, there is nothing to stop the govt from taking 100% of peoples wages if they wanted to.
Imagine what it would have been like if there was a constitutional requirement for a flat maximum 15% tax on wages and investment, with no power to change the rate. I think we would have better budgeting and little debt, or the credit rating would tank.
If you want to be, press one. If you want not to be, press 2
Republicans are red, democrats are blue, neither of them, gives a flip about you.

How is that a cut and paste? Google that sentence and see what you get genius.
The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.
