Um, yeah...

Everything that is good for the environment is a job
By Van Jones
3 Apr 2012

Many politicians want us to lower our expectations about the economy. I say it is time to raise them. For too long, we have acted as if we had to choose between strong economic performance and strong environmental performance. We have been trapped in the “jobs versus the environment” dilemma.

The time has come to create “jobs FOR the environment.” We seem to forget that everything that is good for the environment is a job.

Every kind of American can and should adopt the clean energy agenda: liberals, conservatives, and libertarians; farmers, ranchers, and urban property owners; struggling youth and entrepreneurs.

Where economic and energy policy meet, we should calculate not only what we spend, but also what we save.

From Rebuild the Dream

"Now, more than ever, the illusions of division threaten our very existence. We all know the truth: more connects us than separates us. But in times of crisis the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe.” -King T'Challa, Black Panther

The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it. ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is. ~Winston Churchill

How much do you know about Van Jones and do you agree with the majority of his views? Just curious.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

Beat me to it. He's a complete certified nut case and I can prove it. Go ahead Science Chic... quote some more Van Jones for us. Maybe you ought to Google Van and see for yourself. Start with the Noetic Society where he is (or was) an distinguished fellow.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Institute_ ... c_Sciences

Quackwatch, which describes itself as a self-appointed "Guide to Quackery, Health Fraud, and Intelligent Decisions," lists the Institute of Noetic Sciences among the hundreds of organizations it views "with considerable distrust."

I don't know anything about Van Jones, I just liked what this article had to say. If I can get through the 15 things on my to-do list (anyone want to write an article for the Conifer Chamber newsletter for me?) :) , I'll do a Google search and see just what kind of quack he really is.

I think he was the Obama green collar job Czar before he resigned. Saw him last night on HBO Bill Maher show. Plugging for his enviro books. Everything that is good for the environment is good for his book sales. LOL

I'll write the article SC, if you come over and shovel my drive. :)

I'll call it "The right wing capitalist knuckle-dragger guide to maximizing profits on the 285 corridor"

How's that?

LOL Thanks guys, I'm finishing up with it already, as it is due by the end of the day today (although I should qualify that the end of the day for Dawn and I is usually 2am - we have had several email conversations at the wee hours of the morning both trying to catch up on stuff - she's fun to chat with then too!). It probably would've taken me longer to explain what it was about than to write it myself, I was just procrastinating.

By the way, if anyone's interested in coordinating a music festival with me to be held at the Conifer Community Park in August called Barefoot, Bluegrass, and Barbecue, I'd love the help - I got voted as event coordinator by default of having the least to do in the group, and having decent organization skills. Otherwise, I have no idea what the hell I'm doing! It's gonna be awesome though! (And it's what my article is about)

So forget the author - the point they're making is very sensible. Advancement requires investment and some investments fail, such as Solyndra, but the effort still pushes forward. Think of how many private companies received govt monies in the '60s to develop aeronautic technologies to help us win the space (and ultimately nuclear arms) races. Some of those companies failed too...but still it contributed to the larger effort.

Resisting renewable energies and maintaining the same abusive attitudes towards our environment does nothing to help find solutions to the problems - of course, some may never be convinced there are any problems.

Ok... let's just forget Bush the next time the Obama administration is questioned on it's failed policies.
