How the hell is it not money spent?

Do you actually believe it (principle) ever gets paid back? It is an interest only loan, infinite term, no principle payment, future interest rate unknown and unlimited. (see Greece and Spain).

I love liberal math, I could sit and watch it all day.

They skipped that class in school and replaced it with Entitlement Utopia 101.

Got a source for that?

Since my comment was about the student loans which are paid back, and since you obviously didn't read the whole post, please spare us from your ignorance and verbal flatulence. My math is just fine....

Ryan's budget factors in the return of student-loan rates to their original 6.8%...more than double what it is now. But FEAR NOT!!....Romney stuck his finger up in the wind, and made the command-decision that he agrees with the President that the rates "should not go up."!!

If you don't like Mitt's policies, just wait... He has others...or the ones he has will change. :Whistle

And the "IT" in that sentence was STUDENT LOANS.

I love conservative stupidity...I could sit and watch it for hours.

The OP post article was about food stamps and Pell Grants and Ryan's Budget. Not Romney and Student loans. Just trying to help you keep your disjointed thoughts straight.

And regarding student loans, taxpayers subsidizing 1/2 of the interest cost and paying for the probable 10-20% future defaults is "money spent". FYI

+1.
It the loans and interest have been subsidized by the taxpayer, is it really paid back?

With the housing price bubble, people were taking loans out on property that was overvlaued. With the constant increases in tuition at colleges, much faster than inflation, the cost of these college degrees have doubled, plus so many of the graduates aren't finding jobs, so the value has decreased while the price has increased.

A ploy by Obuma to garner votes from the young people. Our economy is crashing and the govt continues to spend.

Just goes to show that even the Catholic colleges are not immune to the liberal affliction.

I prefer to see the student loan interest rate go up - rather than have the government subsidize the interest rate- this is just one more example of thousands of economic issues that the government should not be involved in.

By artifically keeping these rates low with taxpayer money- the government is manipulating the real economics of student loans.

The free market forces will eventually correct the overpriced college costs- either these colleges would have to figure out how to teach these low value programs for less- i.e. pay those teachers and college administrations less....

or the free market will force many colleges to teach higher value programs.....

or the students would hopefully make a better choice than to get degrees in those arts that do not offer much of a career that would support a family financially. If it won't pay the bills- don't get the degree.

And for those who choose the low value degree anyway- that's fine, but don't ask me the taxpayer to subsidize it with my money!

Isn't it just funny liberal math to steal money from those who earn it- and call it "paying their fair share" when the people getting the free money don't pay any share at all? The guy working his ass off is the bad guy- forced to support those unwilling to do what it takes to support themselves.

Socialism is a drag on everything productive for the exclusive benefit of the lazy and unwilling.

This generation would benefit so much from some "Ayn Rand" ideas, the ideas of socialism have failed all over the world where they have been tried, the fact is that it just does not work. Socialist ideas are destructive to an economy with workers who are willing to pull their own weight.

If you lefties think you can steal even more from the productive in order to subsidize the lazy and unproductive without severe repercussions, you are dead wrong.

And we are seeing the results of this now- with an economy that just can't seem to get going again.
