If your friend is a Republican simply because of Ken Salazar that's a mighty poor reason to make a major personal political decision. I'm sure in any extended family there are members of both major political parties.

Another Hispanic to consider would be Gov Brian Sandoval of Nevada. Prior to that he was a US district judge and was even endorsed by Harry Reid as I recall.
