Do you have a credible source that would prove the Bush administration gave an order to stop looking for OBL? Did all the intel that was neccessary to find him come during the Obama presidency?Something the Dog Said wrote: Whether or not you give President Obama credit for the kill, credit must be given to his administration for the pursuit of OBL, which had been greatly lacking previously.
And if you wanted to find a bad guy and you wanted to minimize his percieved power, would you keep anouncing to the world how important he is or would you allow him to become complacent thus letting his guard down?
It would have really made us look weak if we continued to say we would move heaven and earth and spend billions to find a guy that is one of a thousand needles in a thousand haystacks. Every month we didn't find him would be seen as another failure.
I like the old days better when we didn't have to anounce to the world every plan of attack, every loss, and giving the enemy more to feel victorious about.

The Central Intelligence Agency has closed a unit that for a decade had the mission of hunting Osama bin Laden and his top lieutenants, intelligence officials confirmed Monday.
The unit, known as Alec Station, was disbanded late last year and its analysts reassigned within the C.I.A. Counterterrorist Center, the officials said.

Again, you miss the point. You don't anounce to the world that you're going to spend vast resources (even if you are), to find one guy unless you are very certain you will find him. If we didn't get the intel that was started under Bush, OBL would probably still be alive and all the announcements about finding him would weaken our position by the day. Imo, it's better to ot give the impression that killing one man is the silver bullet to end terrorism.Something the Dog Said wrote:

And no one said that Bush made an order to stop looking other than you. What I did say, and did back up, was that Bush diverted resources from the pursuit of OBL and Al quaeda (remember the huge build up for the invasion and occupation of Iraq) and that it was no longer a priority of Bush to pursue OBL (see links). Bush did announce to the world that he was devoting huge resources in the pursuit of OBL (remember dead or alive announcement), but then he backed off to go off to Iraq. It has been well documented that Bush dismantled the intelligence units that were pursuing OBL (see links). Can you offer any proof that rebuts my points?CritiKalbILL wrote:

So again, where is the proof that Bush made an order to stop looking? Keep in mind that the government doesn't have to report to CNN when it comes to securing our nation interests.
