I read where he didn't want to be president in the first place.....And you're saying he was dieing to be president for a 3rd term but he set that aside for the good of the country...
Who's version sounds believable and who's doesn't? They called him "the reluctant President". Google it

Smart man,don't you think?
Probably, but not a good reason to make him a favorite President of all times. Didn't he win some pivitol battles, or come up with some good lines in the constitution or something?
Theodore Roosevelt. He was the puppet of no man. He found the right balance between big business and the worker. Had enough foresight to establish the national parks. After he lost his son in war he was open minded enough to reconsider a life-long belief in the glory of soldiering.

He was a sickly bespectacled kid that overcompensated when he grew up..A typical republican...All fluff, no substance. You know how you "guys" saw George Bush Jr as a tough guy? All it took was a few posed pictures of him clearing wood with his sleeves rolled up and you thought he was John Wayne..A few pictures of Teddy in a military costume on a horse, or him shooting Elephants in Africa and you closet queens get all excited....
VL obviously missed class when they were studying Theodore Roosevelt.
I'd agree with major bean. Teddy Roosevelt. He was an all around man's man... living the Dakoa Territory when he was younger.. becoming a deputy sheriff and hunting down outlaws.. He was an avid hunter all his life.
He was a war hero and a co-founder of the Boone and Crockett (hunting) Club. As president, he established the Bureau of Reclamation and the Bureau of Forestry. Roosevelt was far sighted enough to set aside millions of acres of land in the West and preserve it for future generations. He established the Grand Canyon National Monument in Arizona, the 11th such national monument created under his presidency. He also added to Yosemite National Park.
The West would not be what it is today without his vision of preservation for future Americans.
He was the guiding force behind building the Panama Canal.
After he was no longer president he went to Africa to gather specimens for the Smithsonian Museum.
"The man should have youth and strength who seeks adventure in the wide, waste spaces of the earth, in the marshes, and among the vast mountain masses, in the northern forests, amid the steaming jungles of the tropics, or on the desert of sand or of snow. He must long greatly for the lonely winds that blow across the wilderness, and for sunrise and sunset over the rim of the empty world." -- Theodore Roosevelt
