Misinformation is the key to the GOP platform for 2012.
As would-be president Mitt Romney tells it: “I will lead us out of this debt and spending inferno.”
Almost everyone believes that Obama has presided over a massive increase in federal spending, an “inferno” of spending that threatens our jobs, our businesses and our children’s future. Even Democrats seem to think it’s true.
Government spending under Obama, including his signature stimulus bill, is rising at a 1.4% annualized pace — slower than at any time in nearly 60 years.
But it didn’t happen. Although there was a big stimulus bill under Obama, federal spending is rising at the slowest pace since Dwight Eisenhower brought the Korean War to an end in the 1950s.
If this is true, why isn't Barack running with it? Doesn't want to piss off his base that want huge increases in the debt? Or has spending decreased because Congress has control of the purse strings? Oh wait, since a budget hasn't been passed in years, we are just funding the goverment on autopilot, maybe this is what we need? Congress should only be in session a couple months per year?
And is this figure based on the annual increase every year and 1.4% is added to that? Base line budgeting I think it is called.

2008 - 2.9 trillion
2009 - 3.51 trillin
2010 - 3.72 trillion
2011 - 3.84 trillion
2012 - 3.79 trillion (estimated)
Federal spending went Up 21% in the first year under Obama. It went up even more in 2010 and 2011. 2012 is an estimated number and could go higher and set another all time record spending year. 2009, 2010 and 2011 set all time record levels for Federal government spending.
From 2008 through 2011 the Federal government grew a whopping 32%.
All this happened while the US economy was shrinking and people were losing their jobs.

That is the Obama record on spending.
So, his record on spending includes 2008 and 2009? Very interesting inclusion there. You DO know that 2009 was not his actual budget year, that being set by the previous pres... right?
I'm including 2008 so we can compare how much the federal government grew- remember, Bush spent 700 billion with the 2008 stimilus package, so the 2.9 trillion number would have been 2.2 trillion without the stimilus.
For example in 2007 the budget was $2.73 trillion. From 2007 to 2008- the government grew by 6%. From 2008 to 2009- the government grew by 21%.
That's the difference between Bush and Obama- yes the republicans spent like drunkin clinton's- but Obama added crack and steriods.
Yes- the 2009 "estimate" was set by Bush- but the money was spent by Obama in 2009 since Bush was no longer our president in 2009. I hope your liberal brain can understand this.
Bush had estimated the 2009 federal budget to be $3.107 trillion - and $3.518 trillion was actually spent in Obama's first year.
