John Edwards Escapes Conviction

A real shame the guy didn't get busted for not reporting campaign donations.

I know his defense is Bunny's money wasn't intended as a campaign donation, just to help JE out. But I think any money given to a candidate, esepcially undeclared should count as a violation of the rules.

IMO, no different than giving Ed Perlmutter a shoebox full of $100's and not reporting it.
It is buying influence, and might even buy you more influence since you are helping the man out of a pickle.

If Edwards had become President and Bunny called, think he would answer the phone ASAP?

No they don't JMC, but that doesn't stop them from having strong opinions on the matter or particular cases they know nothing about..... I swear, I could bring up any subject on earth and the Googologist TLGT would google it up and form an opinion on it in about 2 minutes..... then provide links to back up his newly formed, and virtually worthless opinions..

I don't Google anything. My employer has their own database of talking points and I'm able to access hundreds of responses in minutes. And get paid for it too! (Note - I wrote that myself, it's not in our database... it was hard to compose, but I managed).

Edwards was/is a slime-bag. I won't defend him... But obviously the evidence wasn't there. May he rot in whatever hell he's created for himself. But if the government wants to convict, they'd better have a better handle on the laws and the evidence next time.
