Not when losing could have dire consequences for Wisconsin, the US, and workers all across this country.
Dire consequences? You mean, like a balanced budget, like the ability to make govt. employees pay for some of their extremely generous pension and health benefits, like the ability to stop robbing from all the non govt employees because nobody is at the negotiating table on their behalf?
What dire consequences are you referring to?
Too bad future generations aren't here to see all the great things we are spending their $$ on!!
This is the left's last stand- not only in Wisconsin- but all over the country. If this recall election fails- it's over. They might try this or that petty attempt- but as far as statewide efforts- this is it.
If the recall fails- look for many more governors to make the same reforms that Wisconsin did.
I'm happy to see the left spending so much of their time and money on this effort- I think LJ even pitched in a few bucks!
If they recall walker- it's bad news for conservatives, but if they fail- it's disastrous for the left and for the unions.
I'm pulling for Walker.
If it comes down to protecting the rights of taxpayers- or protecting the ability of greedy unions and government employees to get anything they want from the taxpaying american- I'll side with the taxpayer every time.
New book out right now, but I think it oversteps. Liberals will always appeal to a significant number of Americans, in fact, in some states, Republicans have been reduced to a novelty act, like California.
Thomas Sowell: There are no solutions, just trade-offs.
Oh I don't think Liberalism or American Socialism is going to die anytime soon- in fact I think the war of ideas will continue. I'm talking about the taxpayers rights to make the decisions regarding public sector employees and public sector unions.
The left seems to think that the unions and the government employees should have the power- and people like me think that the taxpayers should have the power.
The power to set wages and benefit levels for the people who are supposedly serving them. These employees have jobs at the pleasure of the taxpayers- not the other way around.
And all the banjo playing and drum circles and crying from the left in Wisconsin can end today- along with the power of the public unions and government employees- as far as I am concerned.
I hope the voters in Wisconsin set the record straight- and give these lefties a real hard spanking. I'll be watching the news alot tonight.
It's a simple question; who do public unions work for? Another one is; who then should decide the amount of pay and benefits? Seems to me like these unions have taken inch by inch for decades until they now make much more per hour (figuring in benefits) than private workers who do similar work. What gives taxpayer funded employees the idea that they should be so much more blessed?
The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.
Here's a good article on why Wisconsin matters for all of us.....
On Tuesday we’re all from Wisconsin.
A lot hinges on whether Wisconsin voters decide to keep Gov. Scott Walker, or put a Democrat in his place who’s heavily backed by public-sector unions, who’ve been fighting a bitter 18-month battle with Walker. What’s happening in Wisconsin is really a battle for everyone’s future -- and whether government employees are our servants or our masters.
Wisconsin was the first state to allow public sector unions back in 1959. Wisconsin residents never have been instinctive foes of big government -- that is, until big government began to drain them dry.
Cue the fat lady and stick a fork somewhere painful for the public unions - this one is done. Kudos to the citizens of Wisconsin for choosing the best interests of them all over the best interest of the public unions. Maybe now other governors and legislatures will have the courage to do the right thing and remove the conflict-of-interest laden collective bargaining for wages and benefits in their State as well.
The union's future is looking a little brighter now than it did just a few short hours ago.

It's called leadership. Something so many politicians on both sides lack. Finally, conservative leaders are stepping up, and talking to the American people like their adults. I just wish all of our politicians would act like this. I don't even care if I don't agree with you...but stand up for principle, and address the REAL issues facing our country. No more kicking the can down the road.
