Obama grants Holder request on 'Furious' documents as contempt vote looms

President Obama has granted an 11th-hour request by Attorney General Eric Holder to exert executive privilege over Fast and Furious documents, a last-minute maneuver that appears unlikely to head off a contempt vote against Holder by Republicans in the House.

The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee is expected to forge ahead with its meeting on the contempt resolution anyway.

It will be interesting to see if the MSM actually starts reporting on this story...nah, nothing to see here folks, move along now.

If the president wasn't personally involved in F&F, executive priviledge does not apply... or can it?

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

The mafia would do a much better job. Holder would be sent on a fishing trip.

As for Obama’s move, this is his first use of executive privilege. According to CBS News White House Correspondent Mark Knoller, President George W. Bush asserted executive privilege six times, and President Bill Clinton 14 times, “involving same category of documents at issue today.”

I guess they are all Chicago politicians.

The power of executive privilege in America dates back to George Washington, who refused comply with a request from Congress to turn over documents related to negotiation of the Jay Treaty. Washington argued that the power to negotiate treaties belongs to the executive and the Senate, but not the House of Representatives. Executive privilege was also asserted by Thomas Jefferson in the trial of Aaaron Burr for treason in 1807.

I guess Washington and Jefferson were Chicago politicians, too. :VeryScared:
