Obama exerts executive privilege over Fast/Furious documents

The Committee’s report thoroughly details the immediate reasons for the resolution: the Justice Department’s open defiance of legitimate demands for documents that are needed for oversight and investigation of one of the most disastrous episodes in the history of federal law enforcement.

Since taking office, Attorney General Holder has seized on the deadly violence in Mexico to promote more gun control. He perpetuated the lie that “90 percent” of firearms used in Mexican crime come from the U.S. and he called for resurrecting the 1994 Clinton gun ban; and to justify the illegal multiple sales reporting scheme, which amounts to gun registration for honest Americans who buy long guns in southwest border states.

There is little doubt that the White House used the Fast and Furious program to advance its gun control agenda. The White House actively sought information from the operation to support its plan to demand reporting of multiple rifle sales by the nearly 9,000 federally licensed firearm dealers in border states.

Executive privilege = zero evidence? What planet have you been on? Obama's executive privilege order can't even be used for what he has attempted to use it for.

Thank you in advance for your assistance in this matter.

If indeed this was a "phony witch hunt" instead of an investigation into alleged violations of federal law which the head of the "Justice" Department is hindering, there would be no need to hide the documents. As our president himself has said, “The only people who don't want to disclose the truth are people with something to hide.” What is it that Holder is trying to hide by not disclosing the documents? We know for a fact that Holder has lied to the committee at least twice already while under oath and has been given the benefit of the doubt and allowed to walk back his earlier testimony and correct it.

If, for once, the story line told by Obama was accurate and he had absolutely no knowledge of anything regarding "Fast and Furious" until it was brought to his attention by a newscast, then he has no claim to executive privilege regarding any documentation that the oversight committee is seeking because nothing about the operation would have fallen under the exercising of his executive duties by him. If, on the other hand, those documents regarding "Fast and Furious" were prepared for him by Holder and the people over at "Justice", then his use of executive privilege would be proper, but he then has a larger problem of trying to explain why operations which involved intentionally providing weapons to drug cartels without making any efforts to either inform the Mexican government of those operations, or take the necessary and proper steps to recover the weapons once they were allowed to be purchased as part of the sting operation were allowed to take place with his knowledge that it was being done and why he has been intentionally deceiving the populace for the last 18 months by claiming he knew absolutely nothing about it.

I agree with you 100% PS, he has no justification to claim executive priviledge if he wasn't involved in F&F.

And PS, you really should consider LJ's ignoring of your posts a badge of honor and a breath of fresh air. I enjoy countering her idiotic posts and always getting in the last word. I'd rather let everyone else know what I think of her BS without getting into it with the irrational troll. It's very liberating!

Therefore, someone else will need to quote you, but I still wouldn't expect a response because she has nothing to counter with other than recycling her worn out insults.

The left is angry because they are now being judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

Whenever an argument builds to a conclusion that starts with, "there is little doubt" you know the argument is weak and intended to sway weak minded, non-critical thinkers.

And cite your source, plagiarist. Stealing others' words, even foolish words, is the same as lying.

If Obama himself has nothing to fear the documents, then why did he claim executive privilege? Maybe you need a little education on when and why a president can claim executive privilege.

“Not every person who plays a role in the development of presidential advice, no matter how remote and removed from the President, can qualify for the privilege. In particular, the privilege should not extend to staff outside the White House in executive branch agencies. [/b][/i] Instead, the privilege should apply only to communications authored or solicited and received by those members of an immediate White House advisor’s staff who have broad and significant responsibility for investigation and formulating the advice to be given the President on the particular matter to which the communications relate. Only communications at that level are close enough to the President to be revelatory of his deliberations or to pose a risk to the candor of his advisers.”

Either he is hiding something that applies directly to his executive staff or he has used the privilege illegally. It can't be both.

Maybe it's because this thread is about Obama and the executive privilege he just instated. Ever think about that clowny?

There is legislation Congress passed to reduce unemployment but the Senate isn't allowed to vote on it.
